Eighteen floors above the Meatpacking District, atop Andre Balazs’ Standard Hotel, sits the Boom Boom Room. A tribute to ‘70s carefree decadence, the Boom Boom Room is split into two modern-retro rooms, with wavy cream-colored leather banquettes, golden fireplaces, and starburst chandeliers on the cocktail lounge side, and on the bar side, sleek black décor with a triangular hot tub in the center of the room. Not to mention, floor to ceiling windows for lots of sunlight during the day and plenty of sexy skyline at night. Additional perks include attentive service from good-looking waitresses, smoking balconies with transparent flooring (so that the 18-story drop is visible) and the high likelihood of an A-list celebrity sighting. Entry is, for the most part, limited to the famous and well-connected, which explains the crowd of disappointed would-be partiers huddled near the ground floor entrance.
Eats & Drinks
The food and cocktails at the Boom Boom Room are as delicious as they are pricey, but if you’re willing to drop a few extra bucks you’re in for a treat. Staying true to their name, the Boom Boom Room’s menu is chockfull of sexually-themed delights. Be sure to sample their Sweets menu, which features desserts like Mont Blanc Nipples, Pineapple Crepes with Frothy Rum Cream, and Baklava Coin Purses with Nutella. If you’re looking to tie on a nice buzz, the Barefoot Lady is a popular and tasty cocktail worth trying.
Ambience
The atmosphere at Boom Boom Room is sexy to say the least. Everything about this swanky hot spot invites you in and draws out your inhibitions. With black and champagne-colored accents, transparent floors, breathtaking New York City skyline views, beautiful clientele, and a hot tub focal point, who wouldn’t find themselves getting hot and bothered?
