Get ready for a boozy adventure which also supports a great cause. Starting on October 10th, eight bars throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens will be featuring specialty cocktails created to support Chemo Comfort — an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for chemo patients. Running until October 19, this ten-day event will be known as Cocktails for Comfort.
The process is simple: order the signature cocktail at one of the hosting bars and proceeds from the total sales will be donated to Chemo Comfort. This way, the charity can continue to assist cancer patients by supplying them with kits full of various necessities to make their rehabilitation easier. These include valuables such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, satin pillowcases (for hair loss), and tea to subdue any discomfort associated with the recovery process. So, while participants of this event are bar-hopping through the city, patients in need will be helped and supported.
The roster includes four locations in Manhattan, two in Brooklyn, and two in Queens. Each day, another specialty drink is being unveiled both on Chemo Comfort’s website and the Cocktails for Comfort Facebook page. As of right now, six drinks have been advertised, below being three of the most recent:
Cocktail: Think Pink
Location: Forty Four at Royalton New York (44 W 44th St., New York, NY)
Ingredients: Vodka, apricot, amaro nonino, lime, cranberry, lemon or grapefruit twist.
Cocktail: Once Too Often
Location: The Astor Room (34-12 36th St., Queens, NY)
Ingredients: New Amsterdam Vodka, strawberries, mint, lemon juice, simple syrup, angostura bitters
Cocktail: Summer Breeze
Location: Dutch Kills (27-24 Jackson Ave., Long Island City)
Ingredients: Bourbon, Aperol, lime juice, simple syrup, chocolate bitters
We’ll have to wait and see what else is revealed over the next few days, but right now, the drinks sound perfect for the cool weather, providing us with one last taste of summer before fall officially rolls in.
What’s a better way to start off the weekend than by going out with friends and supporting a great cause? Plus, this is the perfect reason to try each drink, and there’s just enough time to do so. With all of this said, let the bar-hopping exploit begin (well, on the 10th, anyway)!
