CancerCare, a non-profit organization that offers free services to people who are suffering from cancer, are holding their Annual Spring Gala at the Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, June 12th. The honoree for this year’s gala will be the law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and will be hosted by CBS News Senior Business Correspondent and host of Saturday’s CBS This Morning, Anthony Mason. The night will begin at 6:30pm with a cocktail party and silent auction. This will be followed by a dinner and live auction at 7:30pm. Cocktail attire is suggested in order to attend and tickets for the event can be purchased here.

Last year’s gala, which honored Golden Globe winning actress S. Epatha Merkerson at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, raised over $520,000 for CancerCare. Merkerson was presented with last year’s Hope and Help Award by award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg. Notable auction items included at the 2012 Gala were two tickets to the 2013 Emmy Awards and a five-night stay for two in a pied-à-terre in Paris.

CancerCare is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping people cope with, and manage, the emotional and practical challenges of cancer since 1944. Professional oncology social workers provide expert help in counseling, coping skills, crisis intervention, active listening and more. All services provided by this organization are free of charge. If you are not able to attend this event, CancerCare gives you the option to make a separate contribution through their website by purchasing an ad in their journal or by making a separate donation. If you would like to speak with a CancerCare social worker, call 800-813-HOPE or visit their website.
