A red-hot new venue on the border of the Flatiron and Chelsea, The Scarlet New York is the latest luxe lounge/club to occupy this convenient spot on West 17th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. Formerly home to J'Adore, Scarlet NYC's renovated space is meant to evoke the opulence and decadence of a Moulin Rouge dancehall (makes sense: on Fridays, the Scarlet features a burlesque revue). Scarlet NYC is Perfect for a date or upscale birthday gathering, The Scarlet is a beauty to behold: pretty chandeliers and countless crystal balls are suspended from the ceiling above the dance floor; velvet, damask and embellished gold-tone mirror cover the walls; and modern yet comfy leather couches line the main room's parameter. Bottle-service VIPs (Susan Sarandon was here on opening night) are the literally the center of attention when seated on the elevated stage overlooking the crowd. Add in Scarlet NYC's state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, and you've got a party every time they open the doors.
