I have heard of wine and cheese, beer and cheese, but never beer and bacon. I guess pairing smoky bacon with beer is only natural, especially when the beer itself is smoked. Long Island City's Rèst-âü-Ránt will host a Beer & Bacon Tasting event on Tuesday, March 30th.
A representative from Germany's Aecht Schlenkerla brewery will be bringing by four different types of smoked beers. Each round of beer tasting with be paired with various kinds of bacon and cheese. A rumor of the presence of fried pork belly is in the air.
Other than the true honor of being able to taste smoked beer and bacon together, the event will be giving away glassware and offering beer specials all night. Rèst-âü-Ránt's extensive wine list, drought and bottled beers, and signature cocktails are available if you did not have enough to drink the first time around.
If after scarfing down all those smoky strips of pig, you still find yourself hungry, Rèst-âü-Ránt will fill your belly. With a kitchen open as late as they are, pig-out on cheese platters, dips, tapas, paninis, and more into the wee hours of the morning. Just don't stuff yourself too much, or you my find yourself crying "wee, wee, wee, all the way home."
