Consider this festival “a beer tasting, block party [you] won’t want to miss,” there will be amazing craft beer, delicious local foods, live music, and an outrageous view of the Manhattan skyline. The Brooklyn Waterfront Beer Festival will have approximately 90 breweries sampling over 150 different types of high quality, American summer craft beers and international specialty beers. A few of the breweries featured underneath the main tent will be Blue Point Brewery, Flying Dog, Saranac, River Horse, Tröegs, and many, many more. While festival goers enjoy tasting some of the best beers the United States has to offer they can also snack on some of the best food Brooklyn and New York City has to offer.
Brooklyn’s very own Sheep Station will be serving Australian foods like their Aussie Lamb Sandwich, The Brooklyn Star will be serving their Famous Meatloaf Sandwiches, and Cornelius will be serving up sea snacks such as shrimp and grits. The Morris Grilled Cheese Truck will also be parked on the festival grounds grilling up their delicious artisanal grilled cheese sandwiches for anyone in need of a melty-cheese fix. Don’t worry about getting overheated; Coolhaus Ice Cream Truck will also be station selling their all natural, homemade ice cream sandwiches in edible wrappers.
Don’t let all the beer go to your head, you can learn some useful things at the Brooklyn Waterfront Beer Festival seminars. The seminars are first-come, first-serve with space only for 50 guests, so make sure you get to the designated seminar area early if you want to participate. (We learned the hard way back in March for the Chocolate and Beer seminar). The summer seminars include “Women in Brewing,” because like Beyonce says “Who run the world? Girls!” and that’s exactly who was behind brewing for centuries. Panelists will include four women on the forefront of the craft beer industry. The second seminar “Urban Home Brewing 101” will teach festival goers how easy it is to brew great craft beer right in their home, no matter the size they have available to dedicate to their craft.
