Foodie Alert: The Umami Food & Art Festival 2012
The Event that Hits All Your Senses is Back!

Sweet, Salty, Sour, Bitter.. what's the fifth? The Umami Food and Art Festival is Back! Umami is a Japanese word meaning 'savory' or 'meaty.' However, this non-profit biennale event was created in 2008 and works with other organizations in New York City to get artists and culinary industry folks together --not an event to necessarily cook meat but one to spark your creative senses.

Their key goals are to expand the notion that food can be used as an artistic outlet and to use this common link to introduce art into other aspects of life on a daily basis.

In April, come out for this month-long celebration of food and the arts. It will take place in multiple locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Many of the events get the crowd involved. Lucky for you, most of the events you'll be able to enjoy some food and wine.

Many of the events cost about $15 and there are also free events. Which one are we most excited about? Enriched, a gallery event to create cereal boxes and learn about the history of cereal!
