For anyone interested in Indian culture and cuisine or someone who has never had the opportunity to enjoy the flavorful and intense tastes of India the Varli Food Festival is a not to be missed event. Join Varli Magazine, "The Ultimate Guide to Great Indian Dining" at the Metropolitan Pavillion (125 West 18th Street) on Thursday April 5th at 5 p.m. for the second annual Varli Food Festival, hosted by Emmy-nominated Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. The festival will also feature a live cooking show demonstration from award winning Master Chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, the host of the popular Indian cooking series, “Khana Khazana,” winner of the ‘Best Cookery Show’ by the Indian Television Academy for the passed twelve years.

The Varli Food Festival is a celebration of Indian cuisine and its mission is to “raise awareness and appreciation for Indian cuisine.” To do this, festival organizers have created a culinary showcase featuring over 60 different restaurants and catering companies who will be passing out samples and tastes of their best dishes from individual stalls. This is an ideal setting for restaurants from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Washington DC, and other states to showcase their specialties and introduce people new to the flavors of India. The Varli Food Festival will also have live cooking demonstrations conducted by world renowned Indian chefs and selected restaurants. A full list of participating restaurants, exhibitors, cooking demonstration participants, and restaurant personalities can be found on the Varli Food Festival website.

Tasting all that India has to offer is not the only fun festival-goers will enjoy. A celebrity photo booth will be set up, free of charge, for anyone wishing to be photographed with their favorite Indian chef. All chefs participating will be available for 15 minutes each to take photos with their fans. Festival-goers will also have a chance to get their cookbooks signed by the authors and donate to charity through a silent auction. Everyone in attendance will also be given a customizable Spice Market gift bag that guests are encouraged to fill with giveaways such as, Indian spices and snacks, from the Spice Market Counter.
