Sure, there are those restaurants in the city that everybody knows about and will wait months to get a reservation for. And then there are your local neighborhood spots that you frequent for a good cheap eat. But if you are looking to expand your horizons, we've got some of Manhattan's most delicious and underrated spots for you to try out!
Brabant Belgian Brasserie: (Say that five times fast!) This Belgian restaurant was welcomed to Midtown early this year, and with well-known BXL around the corner, it has sadly been overlooked. But if you're looking for Belgian fare or just a good meal, this is such a great spot. Each dish is abundant, heavenly, and savory. The waitstaff kindly helps you pair your meal with a flavorful Belgian beer from their extensive menu featuring 50+ Belgian brews. Top off your meal with a selection of desserts, which are well worth both the money and the extra calories. You're welcome!

Sel et Gras: This small West Village eatery is not only the best decorated place around, but it offers enticing small plates filled with big flavors. The French restaurant has unique dishes, such as the Tarte Flambe (flatbread with bacon lardons and caramelized onions, $12) and Croque Mademoiselle (ham, gruyere quail egg, $12) that'll leave you wanting more. The cozy space also pours from an extensive wine list, with bottles on display around the bar. For a great atmosphere and great eats, check out this downtown hub.

L'Amant: New to the scene, L'Amant also occupies a small space in the West Village. The spot boasts Southeast Asian fare, expect to find dumplings, curry chicken, and delectable bar food like the popcorn du jour. The cozy nook is reminscent of grandma's den in the 1940s, if grandma had a bar and was super cool. Speaking of the bar, make sure to order one of their specialty cocktails, like the refreshing Mekong River (apple and ginger-infused Wodka Vodka, lime, cucumber juice, green tea, simple syrup, $14) or the seductively named, The Affair (Beefeater Gin, lemon, house-made cranberry syrup, egg white, aromatic bitters, Absinthe, $14). Cheers!
