Since opening in September, Trattoria Il Mulino -off-shoot of worldwide fine-dining franchize Il Mulino New York--has impressed and delighted, offering the inspired character of the Il Mulino kitchen in a more relaxed and affordable atmosphere. The menu, developed by Executive Chef Michael Mazza, offers a number of specialty antipasti (like the Ricotta Meatballs) and a variety of meat, fish, and pasta-based entrees (highlights include the Pappardelle with Lobster Marinara and the Chicken in Crosta with Parmigano and Lemon Sauce). These expertly crafted dishes have attracted the city's foodies in droves, including big names like Robert De Niro, Ron Perlman, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
The trattoria has a reputation for excellence, and it's about to get even better. The Brunch and Lunch programs are receiving a full re-vamping: everything from the menus to the experience are being tweaked and touched up for optimal daytime dining.
Brunch will be offered on Sundays from 11:30am to 4pm, accompanied by a live jazz band. The Brunch Menu has been expanded to include traditional Italian dishes alongside brunch classics like Uova in Camica (Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Caviar) and Uova Purgatorio (Poached Eggs in Spicy Tomato Sauce). Exciting additions include the Lamb Taglia (Thinly Sliced Lamb with Sauteed Broccolini) and the Sausage Ossobucco with Spicy Tomato Sauce.
Lunch is served on Monday to Saturday, from 11:30am to 3pm, with a menu that's extensive and mouth-watering. Antipasti like the Calamai Piccante serve alongside other first course offerings from the meat and cheese boards and the raw bar, while pizza-and-pasta-based mains are a fresh take on traditional new Italian cuisine. Try the Quaglia Pizza (with carmalized onion and quail egg) or the Spaghettini with Spicy Crab and Meyer Lemon.
