It’s always nice to see a business grow, especially when that business is brewing beers.

Long Island City’s Rockaway Brewing Company, a microbrewery which opened in June, is now expanding its distribution to cover the LES and Williamsburg.

Formerly, the brewery only sold their ESB and Summer Ale to Low Tide Bar on 96th and the Boardwalk on Rockaway Beach, literally on a bicycle built by Recycle-A-Bicycle.

Now, along with the new patrons at Jimmy’s No. 43 on 7th and Mugs Alehouse on Bedford Ave, Rockaway will start brewing new Kölsch-style beer, which is a “very light ale from Cologne,” owner and Emmy-nominated cinematographer Marcus Burnett said.

The brewery itself is located in Hunters Point where the owners have started to grow their own hops, which should be ready for brewing by next year. Ride on!
