
Named for the company that owned the 300-acre tobacco farm that once occupied the area, The Goodwin is reminiscent of its land’s history while maintaining a modern edge. The brick wall bar fashions the wine selection at the wine bar and café, carrying a pretty descent wine list that complements the food selections. The menu is moderately priced and features options like a sandwich composed of tempura mussels, oysters, clams & chorizo in spicy pork gravy served on pretzel hero with pickled onions and herb fries or line caught cod with market vegetables and yellow pepper gastrique. Larger plates are available after 5 pm.

The modern Mexican kitchen has reopened with a new addition after closing for renovation. Tequilaria Maya is the restaurant’s new bar right next door to the dining area. The bar features over 100 different types of tequila, as it is the national drink of Mexico. Chef Richard Sandoval has described his drink options as modernly blended flavors created to compliment the flavors of the foods on his menu. Happy Hour is a real steal at Maya with $6 Margaritas and $4 Botanas menu, available from 5pm-7pm and 10pm-12am daily.

Great Britain is born again at Cock & Bull where everything from the music to the cocktails to the décor is designed to emulate traditional British Taverns and Ale Houses. The menu is compiled of traditional dishes like Beef Wellington and Scotch Egg to which Chef Mario Arnero attempts to bring his own modern interpretation. There is a cocktail menu and wine list and the pub features 2 British style ales along with its beer tap selection. Cock & Bull provides all the essentials needed for you to, as they say "EAT, DRINK and BE MERRY!"

The 'Governor' has returned to the Dumbo area of Brooklyn and is waiting for visitors. Named to honor a paper bag manufacturer that helped develop the area (Robert Gair, nicknamed Governor) in the 1800s, the Governor lives up to standards of the time it represents. The bread is baked fresh in-house as is the butter churned. With dishes like beef tounge and marrow popovers and pommes puree, its not hard to tell that the establishment is paying homage to the history that allowed it to be born.

The mac 'n cheese specialty spot hits Murray Hill next month. The owner Sarita Ekya, recently took to Kickstarter to fund the new location and with a little help from their own bank account, the 1,900-square-foot space will open its doors on E. 33rd. Mac 'n cheese lovers rejoice!

Extra Fancy 302 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg
Ross Florance is serving up a casual set of dishes at this Brooklyn seafood spot. Referred to as an 'upscale clam shack', Extra Fancy is anything but what its name suggests. It's a laid back atmosphere with a cocktail list suitable for anyone looking to have a good time without being on the club scene. Items on the menu range from duck liver mousse to kielbasa donned with sauerkraut, making Extra Fancy easy going and easy on the pocket.
