435 Halsey Avenue
(near Lewis Avenue)
Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn
For the Brooklynites that live a little further from the happening streets of Williamsburg, quality restaurants can be few and far between. In fact, a NYMag search for restaurants in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of the borough comes up with only 11 spots, and one of them is now closed. Enter Saraghina.
With its simple rustic décor and a top-secret dough recipe (compliments of East Village Luzzo’s owner), this newly opened pizza place is a breath of fresh air in the heart of Bed-Stuy.
Saraghina serves up Neapolitan style pizzas using a classic wood-burning oven, as well as cheese platters, meat platters, and desserts. Nothing exceeds $20, and though the menu is fairly basic for the moment, it is expected to expand.
