On the tip of Brooklyn’s Chinatown and the beginning of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights lies this family owned Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. This area is less crowded and a bit more peaceful compared to the streets a couple blocks down. Therefore, you’ll probably end up missing this place if you don’t go beyond the massive Asian restaurants and markets along 8th Avenue.

The main attractions to this restaurant are their grilled meats- lamb, chicken, beef, and pork which can be served as a souvlaki (kebab) or with a pita. The most recommended are their gyros that could be served with their delicious greek fries. Their gyros are topped off with their special homemade Tzatziki sauce or yogurt sauce as some may call it. What’s different about their Tzatziki sauce is that it’s mildly spiced giving it a bit more flavor unlike the type you get at the carts. Another recommendation is their spinach pie; baked in a flaky crust that is golden brown and crispy. Their menu also offers hamburgers, charcoal octopus, lamb chops, Greek sausage and salads for the non-meat lovers. They also have lunch platter specials served until 3pm that includes a tomato salad or garden salad and french fries for about $9.75.

Spartan Souvlaki is kid-friendly and also good for big groups. They have private dining/party space and also outdoor seating. You can simply go here for a chill day with your friends or dine here for a not so fancy date. You can also order take out or make reservations (but is not necessary). All in all, my experience was great. The service was wonderful; the waitress was very friendly. The food was superb and well worth the price. The only problem was they did not take any cards, strictly cash only.
