Frozen yogurt chains have become increasingly popular over the last few years. If you have the craving for something cold, light and sweet while you are in Midtown, these are the spots to check out. They offer all the classics, along with some interesting flavors you could never predict.
Recommended flavor: Pomerazzle Tang with Blueberries (Get in all of those antioxidants!)
Recommended flavor: Strawberry (Appropriately named, after a pink berry, their Strawberry frozen yogurt is nicely tart and not too sweet.)
Situated past the linens on the seventh floor of Bloomingdale’s, Forty Carrots is a popular frozen-yogurt stop after a session of luxury department-store shopping or browsing. They also serve proper food, such as salads, sandwiches and soups. High up on Third Avenue and 59th Street, Forty Carrots offers five yogurt flavors daily. Plain, Coffee, Peanut Butter and Chocolate are the usual flavors, and then they change up the fifth one every day of the week to something like Banana or Strawberry. If you do not feel like getting lost within the consumer-haven maze of Bloomingdale's before indulging in their frozen yogurt, make sure to take the elevator, rather than the escalators.
Recommended flavor: Coffee (Rather than the traditional coffee break to shopping, take a coffee-flavored frozen-yogurt treat instead.)
Nestled on 32nd Street within the heart of K-Town, in a Korean food court, is the self-serve, frozen-yogurt spot, Red Mango. Their yogurt dispenser machines are set up just to the right of the entrance, and the young, friendly staff is eager to have you sample their many flavors. This particular Red Mango is most frequented by tourists, who can enjoy the loud pop music while they dine. Red Mango offers flavors like Espresso, Green Tea, Mojito and Caribbean Coconut, along with a good amount of toppings, such as coconut shavings and almonds. If you are feeling thirsty after dining on some spicy Korean food, Red Mango also serves beverages like smoothies, tea and lemonade. Otherwise, frozen yogurt acts as a great spice neutralizer!
Recommended flavor: White Peach (It’s their most popular flavor.)
