Every Tuesday in New York’s west village, the best and brightest of New York’s underground arts & music scene gather for COLLAGE: live art show. The brain child of artist/filmmaker, Savior Elmundo, COLLAGE seeks to revive the artistic air that intoxicated New York’s Lower East Side and West Village during the days of early hip-hop and neo-expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Offering a forum for aspiring artists, musicians, and academics, COLLAGE nurtures the cross-pollination of perspectives across a myriad of disciplines personified by its patrons.
Each week DIVA restaurant/lounge is curated in admiration of an artistic theme, welcoming painters to set up their easels and paint live in tribute of an artist or era. The accompanying DJ mixes and musical performances add to the ambiance transforming the restaurant/lounge into an installation in it of itself recalling the New York 70's & 80's arts movement. COLLAGE welcomes pedestrians, tourists, and enthusiasts into DIVA’s open air space for an opportunity to witness its revival.
Savior Elmundo's project has been going strong for two years, originally a collaboration between himself DJ Tahleim, and painters Lexie Bella and Giannina Gutierrez, COLLAGE has grown exponentially, featuring weekly mixes by DJ BRAKE, DJ DAX, and DJ RAW and past performances from Sam Trump, The Ephelon Trio, Danny Rivera, Flor De Toloache. Savior Elmundo recently stated that COLLAGE is going through a metamorphosis and is poised to launch a new monthly event, for more info visit http://www.zhibit.org/profile/saviorelmundo or show some love and support by attending COLLAGE or Savior's new weekly 80's soirée Zapp, Wednesdays at the Rivington Hotel.
