Review: Maroon 5 At The Beacon Theater
In anticipation of their third album's release, Maroon 5 took the stage at The Beacon

Maroon 5 plowed through an 80-minute set of hits and new songs on Tuesday night at The Beacon Theater. The six-piece funk rock group had both the ladies and gents bopping and grooving to their catchy tunes. Adam Levine, the front man, is exactly that- a solid leader of a powerful band. He sang in falsetto like Al Green and had the ladies in the crowd in a trance.

Fuse TV did a great job broadcasting the event- the live feed had near-perfect sound quality. Watching it on TV felt as good as being there in person, though the crowd would probably disagree. They never stopped dancing and singing, and the band had them eating out of its hand.

A great surprise was a cover of Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” It was good and it deserves to be heard again. It won’t replace the Turner version, but they made it their own. The super hit from three years ago “She Will Be Loved” was stripped down to just Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine on the acoustic. They played a new song called “Give A Little More” and if it’s any indication, the new album, Hands All Over, is going to be full of what Maroon 5 does best- tight funky rock ‘n roll with a catchy chorus.

Check out encore performances on Fuse at August 1 at 8 pm and August 3 at 9 pm, unless you have Dish Network, which dropped Fuse on July 1. Get the new album, Hands All Over, on September 21, 2010. And head over to Fuse.tv for more cool pictures from the show!
