Catchy Future Chick

Friday! Friday! Friday! Ashley Allen, a born and raised New Yorker is taking the pop scene by storm THIS Friday at BB Kings, baby! Ashley’s fresh and intoxicating talent will have you thinking way past the sound of her music; it’s stimulates that party gene we all retain.

Daughter of Music Executive Jeff Allen for Universal Attractions, Ashley is no newbie to the music scene. Many assumptions can be made for a normal New York girl with a voice and a musically connected parent, but when you open a book you’ll find it’s full of pages. Ashley suffered from depression, anxiety, and bullying at a young age, giving her a drive for deeper lyrics than your basic ’let’s party’ radio hit. At one point things got bad enough that drugs were her only answer, but not for long. Ashley’s music pulled her right out of her darkest pit and helped her escape her sadness. She also took an interest in writing poems (that later turned to songs) to express herself and deal with her emotions in a safer way. As a fifth grader, she made her first song ‘Love Will Find A Way’ inspired by the sounds of her and her mothers favorites like Celine Dion, Cher, and Barbara Streisand. Her first single ‘Body Say No, Heart Say Yes’ was released in 2012 and set her path straight for her up and coming pop career.

Daily News Slams Two of the Most Anticipated Summer Festivals

Summer is pretty much here, and besides the fact that it means warmer weather and packed beaches, it also means that it’s time for the season of music festivals. It has become somewhat of a tradition for music lovers. Every year people save up their money to attend their favorite venue in hopes to not only see their favorite artist, but also explore new musicians and genres. It truly has become an exhilarating experience that bands people together through one powerful common interest. Still, these concerts are nowhere near free and not everyone has the money to attend every single festival. This is why many magazines, websites, and newspapers try to analyze the best places to go based on prices and overall content. This may seem like a great idea, which it is, but sometimes facts and opinions can override each other even in a professional setting.

Diplo Deemed One of the Most Creative People in Business

To say that Diplo has seen many successes in his career is the understatement of the century. He has worked with an impressive amount of high-profile musicians that crosses the boundaries of different popular music genres, he joined forces with A-Trak and Skrillex to create the YouTube Channel Potato, and was nominated for the Non-Classical Producer of the Year Award at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony. This, alone, not only makes him one of the most accomplished producers in the EDM genre, but in the general music industry. Still, Diplo has the chance to put another notch on his belt due to his recent acknowledgment in the Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business list for 2013.

What Makes You A Bass Head?

Safe enough to say, if you’re a Dubstep fan then you definitely like bass; BUT! Are you a bass head? Within the past 5 years there’s been a world-wide bass boom with the up-come of Dubstep inside our quickly growing EDM seed, and it’s only evolving more (thank the EDM Gods). Of course, with regards to our friends Knife Party, Nero, and Noisia who usually stay on the happier, upbeat/club type-step, few other DJs dare to go deeper. Hits like ‘Witchcraft’ by Pendelum, ‘Infinite’ by Bassnectar, and one of the newest, ‘Fallout’ by Emalkay & The Others are a few triggers to knowing you’re hooked onto the bass chain, especially when there’s not a second to breath between drops and you just want more. Now, this is no definition of which Dubstep is better or what style makes you a better fan, there are simply levels wherein some can handle and some cannot. Let’s talk a fan favorite; Bassnectar.

Identity Fest No More?

With only two years in the running, our precious Identity Festival may be coming to an end. With over 18 cities, including Boston, Miami, Dallas, and even Las Vegas, Identity Fest has become one more bone-rattling event for the world’s bass junkies, but will it remain just a memory? Last years line-up included favorites like Eric Prydz, Porter Robinson, Wolfgang Gartner, Arty, and many more on this one day soiree while still remaining completely affordable; some tickets were as low as $25. It’d be a shame to take away this event due to the wide range of locations, artists, ages, and pricing which turned this festival very popular, very quickly.

Next Level Maddness

As we’re all aware EDC NY hits this Friday, May 17th; but the party doesn’t stop there. Webster Hall, one of New York’s most historic and largest venues around will be welcoming Brillz, Sigma, Monsta, and special guest Alex English! This shall be wild and perfect while returning from heavy electro into moombahton, drum and bass, and the slight indie-feel they’ve imprinted on EDM.

Brillz is a trap and moombahton producer signed with Skrillex’ Owsla label with popular hits like "Acid Trippin" ft. Whiskey Pete. This hit was made a club favorite with Whiskey Pete’s trap stabs and addictive hook’s that meshed with Brillz trademark melodies. Brilliance.

The Mysterious Case of Random Access Memories

Not much information has been spilled out about the new and highly anticipated album Random Access Memories, by the legendary French DJ duo Daft Punk. This would be their first album in over a decade, besides their live albums and soundtracks, and fans are excited to hear what the two robots composed for their huge network. But still, with only few days away from their May 21st release date, very little has been said about the album itself.

Of course, not everything about Random Access Memories has been held in the dark. There are commercials promoting the album, and its lead single “Get Lucky,” featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rogers, has seen a great amount of success ever since its release in April. Still, unlike other albums, there hasn’t been that much material from it being displayed for the public.
