At only 25 years old, celebrity
stylist Lindsi Lane's talent
for style and glamour has set her apart in an industry that's filled
with veterans of the field. Having already
achieved a great deal of notoriety so early in her career, Lane's
success can be attributed to her uncompromising focus on her clients, as
well as her dedication to flattering their most appealing features and
characteristics. Lane states that it is "so important to love your body.
So much pressure is put on people to look a certain way. I am so
honored and blessed to help change people's confidence through fashion."
It is her own sense of confidence that has supported her throughout her
career.
As the youngest personal shopper in Barney's history, Lane competed in a retail market filled with a sea of other shoppers and stylists vying for the same goal. "I was raised to work really hard and keep my head up and I am so happy my parents instilled that in me at such a young age," Lane says of her personal work ethic. Throughout her time at Barney's, her goal was to keep her eye on the prize and never allow the industry to get the best of her, while maintaining her own unique sense of what looks good.
Lane not only values a person's external attributes, she also believes that building a strong network of close relationships with her peers is the key to success. She states that "trust is a really big thing. People need to trust me, and once they let me in it becomes a whole new relationship." Lane expresses her style with exuberant energy and enthusiasm, creating a friendly and genuine repertoire with her clients as well as her colleagues. She has also maintained her pleasant demeanor while maneuvering through the transitional market of recent seasons. Her consistency and positive attitude has kept her business thriving throughout the economic trials of the past few years. Lane believes that people will prioritize in hard times, and family will certainly be at the top of the list. She affirms that "it is important that people still try and have fun with fashion. Instead of buying an eight-hundred dollar pair of shoes, they can now go to places like H&M and Topshop which I love." Her concept of style and sophistication extends well beyond economic lines and has led her through the recession with poise and positive expertise.
Lane has many icons in the fashion industry that she looks to as a source of inspiration. Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Cameron Diaz top her list as some of the industry's most sensational muses. Of Diaz, Lane believes that her elegant style makes her "fun and flirty," something every woman aims to be. She can also see herself giving a full make-under to entertainment showstopper, Lady GaGa. "Think Chanel meets YSL chic," she says of her imaginative creation. Through her understanding of celebrity design and glamour, Lane reaches out to aspiring designers, sharing the advice that has catapulted her career at a young age. She urges young stylists to keep their own look unique and to always believe in what they know looks good despite what the mainstream trends dictate. Check out Lane's current project on Thursday, March 25 at Joonbug's I Want Now benefit and fashion show at Tenjune in New York.
