Now that Fall is officially here and Paris Fashion Week has wrapped up, our favorite designers are really starting to make head way in presenting new concepts as seen in the Spring 2012 Collections. In these presentations the lucky few (Celebs, Socialites, Fashion Icons, etc.) are provided a first look by designers of their best work. It is here where spectators are able to view up close the amount of detail and craftsmanship that go into creating the designs that inspire us. Though we all are aware that fashion design isn’t nearly as easy as it looks, several celebrities and media personalities have tried. We as fans have watched them stumble through failed attempts to recreate the success of fashion grates. However, every now and then there are a select few who have not only demonstrated their understanding of the craft, but actually make a serious effort in establishing a solid fashion brand. Among them are a few who successfully cross the line from red carpet to runway. So what do a rapper, two hobo’s, a teen queen, and a cougar have in common?  These fabulous individuals who have established themselves either on the screen, on the mic, or both are now making their voices known in the fashion industry. Here’s a quick run down of what they’ve been up to.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen The beloved TV duo turned fashion icons first made there break with their attention grabbing hobo chic style. The look of high priced, drabby threads with worn and tatter edges first received a lot ridicule from columnists. But it’s hard to hate two young women who launched a multimillion dollar empire starting from a small TV roll on the family sitcom Full House. The Olsen sisters have come a long way from the San Francisco, CA based sitcom and have had run ins with tabloids prior to their fashion careers for their fashion choices, the failed college try at NYU, and Mary-Kate’s relationship with the late Heath Ledger who died from an accidental overdose in January 2008. These twins will have the last laugh. Following the success of their brand The Row, a line they produced together turning their hobo chic style into a high fashion signature look. The Row has received continuous praise by fashion critics for its innovation as well as the company’s corporate responsibility. The Luxury brand produces many of the outfits are produced from within the US and used sustainable methods in doing so. During Paris Fashion week the Olsen Twins were named creative directors for Superga, a footwear brand based in Italy. It was announced on the eve of Superga’s 100th birthday that the Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen would be operating out of the North America HQ.

kmart
Selena Gomez  This teen beauty is more commonly known for her role as Alex on The Emmy Award Winning Disney TV Series, Wizards of Waverly Place.  As a mortal being Gomez is often known to light up the red carpet with her feminine yet mildly edgy style topping many of the best dressed lists. A regular favorite of fashion stylists and critics it would be expected for the stars such as this young teen to try their hand in fashion. Instead of launching a designer brand Gomez is making magic with Kmart with her new line Dream Out Loud. The vintage ready to wear appeal line inspired by Gomez’s own street style debuted in July just in time for back-to-school. The collection comes complete with junior sportswear, handbags, belts, scarves, hats, hair accessories, and socks/hosiery all picked out by Gomez. PR Newswire announced that in October, Gomez will be adding footwear to the collection.

Kanye West The controversial hip hop performer/producer has had many moments in infamy. Long before West openly vocalized a possible interest in expanding his creative talents into fashion, West has been widely celebrated for his street style and red carpet selections. Even in the earliest point of his career, West has used fashion to define himself as a performer, with his infectious trend setting ways that have been transforming gangster rappers into gentleman (or at least better looking).  The divo rapper, also known for his inappropriate public outbursts, seemingly childish rants, (and an attempt at a luxury men’s footwear line that took a nose dive last year following a collaboration with Louis Vitton ) found himself under the microscope when he announced ambitions of a comeback. West who reinvented himself this year with speculations of revealing his new women’s ready to wear apparel line, only to launch it in France at this past Paris Fashion Week, has finally proved that his more than an artist that knows how to dress.  The Women’s ready to wear line Dw was named in honor of West’s late mother Donda West, who passed away after complications in cosmetic surgery in November 2007. The collection demonstrates Kanye’s creative growth as well as his ability to make street style luxurious.

Ann Taylor
Demi Moore Super sexy 48-year-old soon-to-be-divorcee is taking a much needed break from legal dealings with boy toy Ashton Kutcher in her support of the new fall collection for Ann Taylor.  “We are happy to have Demi Moore collaborate with Ann Taylor”, states a rep. Who wouldn’t Moore has been making her forties in a recent shoot which portrays her as playful and sensual.  The Demi Moore for Ann Taylor Fall Collection includes a series of chic faux furs and wool pencil skirts that are flattering at any age. Some of which have been selected by Moore. The collection is currently available at Ann Taylor locations.
