It’s not everyday you get to meet someone as ‘multi-hyphenated’ as Karen Elson. Model-singer-songwriter-mother-muse, and most recently, design collaborator for Nine West Vintage America celebrated the collection’s debut last Tuesday at Beauty & Essex, complete with a meet and greet beforehand. Her new collection was available for preview and purchase, which was on display in the Beauty & Essex pawnshop and incorporated into the décor throughout. Our anticipation grew as we absorbed the cool comfort of the crowd, seemingly disaffected by the luxurious atmosphere in the candlelit lounge. Guests indulged in wine and champagne and the ceaseless offerings of gourmet tapas; mouth-watering fare including avocado on toast, whipped ricotta and nectarine, lobster pizza, steak tartare, and grilled cheese, tomato dumplings. Soon, we made our way up the grand spiral staircase, past the fur-lined walls, to wait patiently for our turn to meet the honored guest.
