Ever thought about ditching your desk at work to skip out for a mid-day dance party during lunch? Well, you now have that opportunity! Lunch Beat NYC, which started in Sweden in 2010, when founder Molly Ränge and 14 of her co-workers danced in a parking garage to a mixtape on their lunch break, is hitting Manhattan on Wednesday, April 24th from 12:30pm- 1:30pm at Slate club in Flatiron. Prepare to daytime disco as a DJ spins the beats while host venue Slate serves a healthy vegetarian lunch—all included in the $12 ticket price!
The first Lunch Beat in Manhattan is being organized by New York City residents Sarah Reynolds and Isha Toor. "All we want people to do is to forget about their work for one hour, decompress, and dance in a fun, healthy environment," said organizers Toor and Reynolds. The dynamic duo hopes to help spread the Lunch Beat movement throughout the neighborhoods of NYC and is excited to bring people from different walks of life and various backgrounds together through the common language of dance and fun! Anyone can start a Lunch Beat by following the startup guidelines of the global movement, found via their website here.
Check the details for the event below and plan to wear your dancing shoes on April 24th!
Happening in New York, in a crowd of sharp-dressed twenty-somethings, Staci Sherri presented her Holiday Collection preview last Sunday evening at Slate in New York City. With sexy, formfitting dresses, off-the-shoulder tops and pops of sparkle and shine, the collection complemented, but didn’t compete with, the outlandish and statement-making Zack Lo shoes that walked the runway. London- and Boston-based, Zack Lo made his New York debut with the Voodoo Circus collection that was seen on the models and sold after the show, as well.
Staci’s offered some great options in LBDs and fun accents, including cutout patterns and bows, that would be appropriate for any upcoming holiday party. However Zack Lo’s shoes could have had a whole show just for themselves. Last seen in Boston Fashion Week's Emerging Trends Show, Lo is currently in Asia working on his next collection. If it's anything like the Voodoo Circus, there's a lot to look forward to. The Bumble Shoe, featured in April’s Glamour, has neon colors, zebra print, tassels and a fuzzy t-strap that will make you do a double-take.
Stay posted for an upcoming interview with up-and-coming designer Zack Lo in Boston's Glam Damn It.
