Scene
Tenjune. Sounds like something that a couple of celebrities would name their lovechild. It’s actually an ultra-selective “top 5” spot in the West Village co-owned by Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum who share the same June 10th birthday. Get it? Calling this place a hotspot is actually an understatement. It’s on fire, located beneath STK, one of the city’s trendiest eateries. Due to its high profile guest list and uber-exclusivity, it’s obvious that the only people slipping through those velvet ropes will be hot, hawt and haute. This spot is always packed with celebs, scenesters and nightlife networkers (hint hint: joonbug) every night of the week.
Eats & Drinks
Bottle service is the way to go when visiting this ultra hot and alluring nightclub. Get together with a large group of your closest friends and reserve a table ahead of time to ensure a hassle free and fun filled experience. While Tenjune is not a restaurant, they do have access to a full kitchen which they use for special events and private parties. They can whip up specifics at your request or can even set up a full buffet for your private party needs.
Ambience
There are three parts to this Meatpacking Mecca. The main room features a large, leathery bar with a marble backdrop that’s dotted with twinkling lights. Sleek wood waves ripple across the ceiling, gently guiding you to the horseshoe shaped dance floor surrounded by coppery cushions and private tables. The more intimate and plush “Purple Room” with a white, flickering fireplace, its own private bathroom and dedicated staff is fit for royalty. Or at least A-listers celebrating their birthdays. Tenjune consistently hosts the hottest DJs spinning house, top 40 and hip-hop but don’t be surprised if you see a chart-topping recording artist snag the spotlight with a live performance.
Celebrities
This place seen pretty much every star from A to VIP including Lindsay Lohan, Diddy, Kanye West, Sienna Miller, Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Demi Moore, Eva Longoria, Jude Law, Jessica Alba, Seth Rogan, James Franco, Rosie Perez, Edward Norton, Michael Strahan, Paul Rudd, Russell Simmons and more.

EMM Group & Tenjune Celebrate 5 Ravishing Years

When it comes to NYC nightlife, 5 years is a long time. In the fickle nightlife industry of New York City, EMM manages to stay on top with some of the best venues in town. In celebration of that great feat, Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum threw a grand bash last Friday night to ring in Tenjune's 5th anniversary.

Celebrity guests included Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Maxwell, and Lebron James just to name a few. DJ Runna and Swizz Beatz brought the beats while guests danced all night and morning (literally) thanks to Liquid Lightning energy drinks.

IN THE HOUSE
Joonbug Exclusive - The Knocks

Joonbug recently had the chance to catch up with electronica duo and NYC locals, Benjamin “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson, of The Knocks.

Not only are these guys rising stars here in the U.S., but they are blowing up on the international scene as well. After wrapping up the last stop on their Corona Light Tour at Tenjune last week, prompted by their Corona Light television ad, B-Roc and JPatt have brought their talents to Europe once again. Currently, The Knocks are on a massive festival-circuit that spans the continent of Europe. The electronica duo is being featured alongside of some of the biggest names in the industry, Calvin Harris, Busy P, SBTRKT and Boys Noize to name a few. Not bad for a couple of guys who started off by scrapping together just enough money to make their NYC-based studio, HeavyRoc Music, a few years ago.

The Knocks have an uncanny ability to consistently produce great music that has an enormous range. Back in 2008, Diplo recognized their talents and featured one of their remixes on the Paper Route Gangstaz’ “Fear & Loathing in Hunts Vegas” mixtape. Still, the scope of The Knocks extends beyond hip-hop and into club-bangers like their Peter Bjorn & John remix of “It Don’t Move Me.” More recently, The Knocks have breathed new life into Motown classics on their Same Old Songs free EP. Make sure to check out their stand-out cover of The Temptations' “Aint To Proud To Beg".

Over the course of their still young career, The Knocks have progressed from making mostly mash-ups and remixes to producing their own amazing tracks. Check out “Something I Can Dance To,” their funny and painfully relevant song “Blackout,” and “When You’ve Got Music” which was recently sampled by Chiddy Bang's song, “When you’ve Got Music.”
