David Datuna + Tortoise & Blonde Launch "Viewpoints" App in Soho
Art crosses the threshold of social media with new filtering app.

David Datuna

This past Wednesday, Tortoise and Blonde eyewear teamed up with artist David Datuna at the Soho Gallery for Digital Art to launch a new camera app, Viewpoints.

The new app, designed by Global Art Group lets users filter their iPhotography in a style of Datuna’s artwork, consisting of hundreds to thousands of cascading lenses imposed over the picture. Tailored around Datuna's style, the frames used in the app are actual eyewear available through Tortoise & Blonde.

As Datuna’s own artwork brightly lit up discussion upstairs, DJ Retweet & “Hypegirl” of Small Girls PR staffed the turntables keeping everyone’s feet moving, disallowing any stagnation

Downstairs, guests were able to scope out the app on a communal iPad hooked up to a projector, making for a fun approach in chronicling the night.

The other highlight of the launch was the huge vats of vodka provided by Mari Vanna, a Russian restaurant in Manhattan’s Flatiron district.

These vats anchored the evening with three different flavors; cherry, apricot, and apple mint, and please know that all three were absolutely delicious.
