The summer won't officially be over for another week when we all have to stop wearing white in fear the fashion fairy will fall out of the sky and turn us into a knockoff Chanel handbag (gasp). And, speaking of Chanel, it wouldn't be the start of the fall season without the rumor mill of New York Fashion Week whirling up and down 5th Avenue. I'm hopeful for many things, as I always am as fashion week nears. I expect to see color blocking in its best, PR companies scrambling to douse the thirst of their celebrity clients and, of course, Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour glaring at the models as they come down the runway. I also hope that the bedbugs that are plaguing New York City stay away from Lincoln Center. It would be a dreadful sight to see the girls bit up and itching as they model next season's collections.
And, as the bedbugs are slowly taking over Times Square and shutting down theaters and the offices of Elle on Broadway, I can't help but think of the 80s in New York City nightlife. Michael Alig and the Club Kids would capitalize on the infestation and fill The Limelight with life sized versions of the insects and crown one of Clubland's most outrageous, The King Queen of the Bedbugs. Snapping back to reality, I am waiting on the official word that M2 will be reopened before New Year's Eve and it's also my understanding that we have Touch back from its long hiatus from the epicenter of nightlife.
From the Joonbug office, there is much to report as we go into a new season. Fall always brings new resolutions, much like New Year's Eve itself. We are very excited to announce the opening of our new office in Miami. In tempo with the change of season, I am quite confident you will be seeing a lot more of us on the beaches of SoBe and snapping your photo on the clubs along Collins. In the coming weeks, I expect to launch our highly anticipated video blogging series which will kickoff with some of television's most notable personalities along with an inside look at fashion week. But, to get the live look at some of next season's hottest designers, make sure you join us for our very own Fashion Week Gala at The Griffin here in Manhattan on September 11 & 14. And one last thing. I hear DJ Manero is launching something huge. Really huge. So, keep your eyes on Joonbug for the updates on his newest project.
So, onward to fashion week and Halloween and New Year's and then fashion week again. As the fire of party season begins with the spark of the runway shows and ends in the full pyrotechnics of New Year's Eve, I only ask one thing. Keep the bedbugs out of the DJ booth.
On With The Show,
Chet Jordan
