In the end-of-summer heat, you might be reminiscing on that romantic winter night, ice skating at Rockefeller Center and wishing for the hip, young version of it. Well, move over Rockefeller, newly opened High Line Rink revamps the skating scene and although its not ice skating, it’s still a great place to bring friends or a date. Urban in nature, the rink is ringed by trendy lit traffic barricades which gives it a high-energy NYC vibe. If you’re hungry, the rink is conveniently located next to the Lot On Tap which houses some of the best truck food in the city. Admission (plus skates) is $12 for adults and $10 for children. Rental protective pads and skatemates are available. Also available for purchase are helmets and socks.

Trapeze School New York- West Street at Houston Street

Ever wanted to learn trapez

Trapeze School New York

e with the Hudson River as your backdrop? Well put on your high flying shoes (aka your bare feet) and head over to Chelsea, to the Trapeze School New York, for an unforgettable aerial experience. With a small group of ten or less, you will have a crash training course in basic trapeze. There, two cute (sometimes shirtless) Trapeze experts will also teach you how to hoist your legs and hang upside down (and a few other basic tricks), like you see at the circus. You will climb a rickety yet stable ladder (we promise that’s the scariest part), to another trainer who will clip you in and fetch the trapeze, while you wait, toes curled around the small ledge. After you muster up the courage to jump, they guide you through the tricks learned on the ground, and you fall into a net, safely returned to your friends or date. Wear snug clothes so that they wont get in the way of the harness Prices range from $50-$60 depending on the day you go. Make sure to sign up in advance because spots fill quickly.

Night

The Box NYC-189 Chrystie Street New York, NY 10002

Wandering the Lower East Side at midnight, you may come across the crowded sidewalk of fans waiting, hoping, to enter into The Box. Sophistication has turned naughty in this exclusive world of debauchery and fun. It is unlike any other experience in NYC and in a city where everything is ‘been there; done that’ you can rest assured that this nightclub will have something, or someone, to wow you. Mustard and red curtains drape across the stage and by the balcony seating to create an intimate yet taboo vibe. As if, now that you entered into their world, you’re hidden desires ca

n be explored. Like a stolen piece of Moulin Rouge, preserved at the turn of the century, The Box displays one-of-a-kind performances from acts like The Human Discoball, Anane and risqué Burlesque dancers. All shows are without boundaries which can sometimes make for a crazy night of dancing and interacting with the performers. Don’t be surprised if you see fire breathers and fondling because everything is geared toward the shock factor. The show begins at 1:00 AM and progressively gets crazier as each hour passes (there’s a different show every hour). This is definitely not your average entertainment so if you don’t want to be spritzed by urine, be sure to get a seat upstairs on the balcony (the host focuses his attention on the tables by the stage). Drinks are pricey and can range from $18-$30 per cocktail. Also, crowds are ridiculous during the weekend, so go during the week if you can.

Barcade-388 Union Avenue New York, NY 11211

Located in the North Side of Williamsburg, sits Barcade, an arcade that serves alcohol. Simple white brick and a chalkboard wall behind the bar give this place an unpretentious, laid back vibe. This adult playground will be

sure to take you back to a time where nothing mattered except video games and fun. We’re talking every adult-child’s fantasy: domestic craft beer and vintage games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Tapper. With beer holders by each game, and specials on tap like Dogfish Head Theobroma and Coney Island Sword Swallower, you don’t have to worry about losing your buzz while saving Princess Peach from the classic pixilated Donkey Kong, or running frantically away from ghosts while trying to eat as many balls as you can. Every game is .25 cents and the drinks are at $6 per beer but totally worth it to be able to try an endless rotation of American beers.
