Why 2016 is Better Than 2015

From fashion faux-pas to bad life decisions, the New Year is our chance to say the things we didn’t say and do the things we promised we could-woulda-shoulda done. As much as we’ve lived and laughed in 2015, we’ve also had our fair share of debates and scandals we're ready to leave behind. Before we bid 2015 adieu, here’s 6 reasons why 2016 kicks 2015’s ass.

1. The Year in Fashion:

2015: Leaving behind… 90’s Grunge and Man Buns.

Somehow this was the year women got grungier with the 90’s and men got more feminine with the man-bun. It’s time to bury those tattoo black chokers for another decade and move on from the era of men in messy top knots.

2016: Looking forward to… Spring’s Catalonian Catwalk.

We’re predicting Spanish-style influences next spring, like coffee-colored neutrals, bright accent pieces (think Valencia orange and Mediterranean aqua), and possibly more fringe. If that means we’ll be seeing more of Penelope Cruz and Enrique Iglesias look-a-likes roaming the runway, bring it on.

2. The Year in Cinema:

2015: Leaving behind… Sloppy Sequels.

Goodbye: Ted 2, Taken 3, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (or Mission-Possible 5).

2016: Looking forward to… Not-so-sloppy Sequels.

Hello: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Zoolander 2, Finding Dory.

3. The Year in Politics:

2015: Leaving behind… Donald Trump and Jeb Bush’s Messages to America.

The great Presidential race has brought on some major eyebrow-raising commentary, like Trump’s message to Mexican immigrants and Jeb Bush’s thoughts on baby Hitler. Maybe some things really are better left unsaid.

2016: Looking forward to… Presidential Election of 2016.

We can’t stop talking about November’s impending Presidential Election. With so many worthy candidates on next year’s ballot, this may be the year we won’t need to push voting campaigns.

4. The Year in Social Media:

2015: Leaving behind… the Dress.

Nothing screams 2015 like the great “Dress” debate. Hopefully we'll resolve more pressing issues next year than just focusing our efforts on viral optical illusions.

2016: Looking forward to… more Presidential Memes.

We've had our fill of 2012's Mitt Romney and Barack Obama jokes. We're ready for next year's Trump-Clinton-Bush-andeveryoneelse memes.

5. The Year in Celebrities:

2015: Leaving behind... Never-ending Twitter feuds.

Twitter feuds were all the rage. Miley Cyrus vs. Nicki Minaj. Azealia Banks’ rant on Miley Cyrus vs. Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj vs. Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift vs. Katy Perry. Katy Perry vs. Calvin Harris. Calvin Harris defending Taylor Swift vs. Zayn Malik. Shall we go on?

2016: Looking forward to… Possible Baby Bumps.

With several matches made in heaven this year, we’re in high hopes for prospective baby showers. We could be seeing little blonde mini-me’s from Nicky Hilton, Whitney Port, or Amber Heard.

6. The Year in Sports:

2015: Leaving behind… the Cubs, Mets, and Winning Droughts.

The 2015 World Series was a bit too close for comfort for die-hard Chicago Cubs and Mets fans. As if it wasn’t painful enough watching the Mets lets the World Series slip from their hands, even “Back to the Future” fans died a little inside when the Chicago Cubs lost the so-called film predictions.

2016: Looking forward to… Summer Athletics in Brazil.

The Summer Olympics are back to invade our televisions next August 5th – 21st held in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. We can’t help but feel the world is one step closer to world peace when the Olympics are in town. This is exactly what the world needs now.
