As National Oyster Day approaches this Friday the 5th, there’s no better way to celebrate the occasion with some delicious New York oysters! Here is Joonbug’s guide to the best oysters in the city!

1. Aquagrill

South Village: 210 Spring St.

Considered one of the top seafood restaurants in the city, Aquagrill makes some of the best oysters in the city — not to mention pretty much everything else on the seafood spectrum. Aquagrill has a huge raw bar to choose from, featuring oysters from New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Massachusetts, New Brunswick, and more. Try the wide samples of over 25 oysters per day — one of the largest selections in the city — for this Oyster Day.

2. L & W Oyster Bar

NoMad: 254 5th Ave.

Located in a corporate block in NoMad, the more homely exterior of this oyster bar sticks out in comparison. The interior is just as humble, with magnetic poetry lining the walls, mason jar lamps, and wooden, nautical decor all over. The oysters themselves, though, are some of the tastiest in the city, and at reasonable prices considering what most of Manhattan has to offer. Drinks are paired by restaurant staff to the dishes you order, and the robust wine and beer selection allows you to mix and match with plenty of pairings.

3. Upstate

East Village: 95 1st Ave.

With a daily changing fresh oyster bar menu, the well-trained servers at Upstate are more than willing to guide any customer through their selection of oysters. The restaurant also features a happy hour oyster special, which is $12 for six oysters and two beers. With all the different regions come different tastes as well, and the robust menu provides tons of options for your Oyster Day celebrations. Besides the oysters, Upstate has some of the best crab cakes and craft beers of any NYC seafood restaurant.

4. Blue Ribbon Brasserie

South Village: 97 Sullivan St.

As part of the Blue Ribbon line of restaurants, the Blue Ribbon Brasserie in the South Village holds up the brand’s high reputation. During peak hours it’s hard to get a seat at Blue Ribbon, but go during less busy times like late nights (Blue Ribbon is open until 4 a.m.) and you’re much more likely to have a successful Oyster Day celebration, especially with Blue Ribbon’s delicious Boston and west coast oysters that taste as fresh as can be. Chefs from around the South Village area are known to congregate and enjoy oysters during the restaurant’s late hours, after they close for the night. Reservations are available online and over the phone for this hot location, so make sure to pick one up while you still can.

5. Mermaid Oyster Bar

Greenwich Village: 79 Macdougal St.

Mermaid Oyster Bar has daily happy hours from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. allowing you to enjoy a specialty cocktail alongside an order of delicious oysters. Indulge in East Coast Oysters for $1 as well as $5 beers, $7 wine, and $8 cocktails! Other happy hour deals include fried calamari, fried oysters, and mini fish tacos all for discounted prices.

6. Pearl Oyster Bar

Greenwich Village: 18 Cornelia St.

Pearl Oyster bar is the place to be if you want to indulge in every course this National Oyster Day. Enjoy delicious and fresh Blue Point Oysters that will make any skeptic become a fan. The menu doesn’t stop there, try their Lobster Roll which is a fan favorite and their signature dish. If you’re craving some sweets after your oyster filled meal, they suggest trying their Blueberry Pie, made freshly with ripe blueberries and buttery crust.
