New York Journey

Whether you are traveling across oceans or across the U.S., this site offers information on flights, hotels, ticket sales, car rentals, and NYC tours. This site is very easy to navigate because they list hotels, restaurants, and attractions based on what part of Manhattan you are staying in. For example, not only can you find out what hotels, restaurants, etc. are in Midtown West, they rate the hotel and make it very easy to book in seconds. They also have a great shopping guide that is very useful for the holidays. Site

The blog by Rosalie also gives you good ideas of what to do for the upcoming Holiday season. Unlike some other blogs, she has already updated and put up information so you can get into the spirit of the holiday season.

New York Guest

This site offers vacation packages, New York sightseeing ideas (some pertaining to New Year’s and some general), as well as very helpful links to locate NY hotels, transportation, NY shows, tickets, etc. Newyorkguest.com also gives some great ideas for spending NYE in Times Square, but broadens your horizons if you want to celebrate elsewhere. You can also find helpful links to travel deals and read featured articles that will help you get more ideas for celebrating New Years Eve in NYC.

Luxury Travel Advisor

This site provides specific details for New York City New Year’s Eve festivities, especially the Times Square Ball Drop. It provides information about events or ceremonies that residents of NYC may not even be aware of, such as The Confetti Wishing Well and Good Riddance Day. This site is very useful because it offers more details than others I have come across and it also provides links to other New York tourism sites.

Attention, Celebrity Seekers!

Want to know where your favorite celebrities will be going to ring in this New Years 2010?  Here is the dish.

Lady Gaga, singer and songwriter of “Just Dance”, “Poker Face”, and more recently known for “Disco Stick” and “Bad Romance” will be taking the stage at FontaineBleau Poolside in Miami.  After leading off the countdown ‘til the end of 2009, she will make her first 2010 performance at this memorable NYE Bash.

Also partying it up in Miami this NYE will be reality show star, Brody Jenner, star of Bromance, Princes of Malibu, and The Hills.  Brody will be hosting the number 1 hotel party on the beach- that is the sexy and exclusive rooftop party at Gansevoort Hotel!   360-degree view of the Atlantic Ocean, poolside cabanas, models, Brody… Oh and a 4 hour open bar… Who wouldn’t kill to be here this New Years Eve?

New York, New York.  That is where celebrities Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon will be celebrating their New Years Eve 2010, at M2 Ultra Lounge.  Want to be at the biggest scene, at the biggest city in the US, with the biggest celebrities?  Don’t miss out on the chance to dance, party, mingle and ring in the New Year with the elite and the famous at the most happening club in New York City!

Not going to be on the East Coast this New Years Eve?  There will be plenty of celebrities celebrating the New Years Eve 2010 in no other than Las Vegas.  Actress, author, socialite, and TV personality, Nicole Richie, is escaping The Simple Life this NYE 2010 to host the party at the newest restaurant and nightclub in the Palazzo, club Lavo.  Also in Las Vegas will be the world-famous, four-time Grammy winner, singer and performer, Christina Aguilera.  Rub the lamp and make a wish because this genie is coming out of the bottle to host the NYE 2010 party at nightclub, TAO.

Oh tonight will be a good one, if you are in Vegas and you’re getting ready to celebrate your night at LAX nightclub this New Years Eve, with the Black Eyed Peas.

Multi-platinum rap artist, 50 Cent will also be in the area, to host, perform, and start of the New Year right at Pure Nightclub, inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

And finally, Shwayze will have Vegas “Buzzin” as he hosts the NYE party at Christian Audigier this year.  Not sure if you can handle NYE 2010 in the city of sin with the hottest celebrities in the world?  Don’t worry- what happens here stays here.

New Year's Eve is the perfect time of year to gather your family and friends and spend an evening together watching movies.  Whether the classics are your style or you’d rather trek to the theater to watch the newest releases, watching a movie is a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones while welcoming in the New Year in New York.

If you’re getting together with the girls, pop open a bottle of wine and bring out the ice cream to watch “Bridget Jone’s Diary”.  This romantic comedy staring Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, follows a loveable but hopeless leading lady on her quest to keep her New Year’s resolution to write in her diary.  Laugh and cry along with Bridget as she writes about her ridiculous family, friends, and love life.

A great way to greet 2010 is to watch a movie with the kids.  If you’re looking for an entertaining New Year’s Eve movie, try “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown” the made-for-TV movie special that sang its way into many hearts.  In this movie, Charlie Brown struggles to finish his book report over the holidays while distractions such as a New Year party get in his way.

If you’re more interested in watching a New Year’s Eve classic, watch “Sunset Boulevard.”  This 1950’s film stars William Holden as a faltering screenplay writer and Gloria Swanson as a movie starlet looking for her comeback.  The drama escalates at a New Year’s Eve party where new love interests are discovered.  Follow Holden and Swanson’s journey through love, heartbreak, and murder while enjoying this New Year’s Eve classic.

Tired of trips to Blockbuster and sitting on your couch all night?  Head to the movie theater to see the hottest new releases.  One movie you might like is the new Sherlock Holmes movie.  It comes out December 25, 2009 and features a great cast: Sherlock Holmes is played by Robert Downey Jr., with supporting actors Jude Law and Rachel McAdams.

Watching a movie is a great way to relax before your big night at a club, cruise, in Times Square, or at a great party.  Check out a romantic New Year's Eve comedy, a great children’s special, a New Year’s Eve classic, or venture to the movie theater to check out a new release like Sherlock Holmes.

If you are looking for more than movies, our suggestion is NYC New Years Eve Parties.

New Years Eve Celebration around the World

In New York City, masses of tourists and a few brave locals cram together in Times Square to watch the dropping ball and celebrate the New Year.  While champagne and noise-makers now characterize New York New Years Eve, there are long traditions of celebrating the New Year in other cultures around the world.

The New Year's Eve has been celebrated for thousands of years, but the exact date that we celebrate today was originally established by Roman Emperor Julius Caesar in 46 B.C.E.  Other cultures celebrate the New Year at different times of the year and with different traditions.  Chinese New Year celebrations include wearing new clothes, often red, and New Year gatherings with family and friends.  The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, has traditions of going to services and the blowing of the shofar, a ram’s horn.

Modern day New Year’s Eve celebrations throughout the world begin in New Zealand and Australia due to the time change, and Sydney’s massive firework displays are often broadcast nationally.  The first major city to see the New Year is Gisborne in New Zealand, which celebrates with fireworks, street carnivals, and in recent years Queenstown, New Zealand hosts an international cricket game on New Year’s Eve Day.

In Brazil it is customary to dress in white for good luck, gather with friends and families on Cobacabana beach and watch one of the best fire work displays in the nation with copious supplies of food and drinks.  Tradition in Venezuela also has an emphasis on bringing good luck into the New Year.  It is popular in Venezuela to tune into radio countdowns that are interspersed with festive tunes.

New Year’s Eve in France is called le Reveillon, and is celebrated with family and friends eating a feast with traditional food such as foie gras and festive desserts.  Like in the United States, France’s New Year’s traditions include resolutions and champagne.  Italy’s New Year’s Eve event traditions also include certain kinds of food.  In this case, Italian sausage and lentils are the appropriate New Year’s Eve snacks.  Tradition in Italy dictates wearing red underwear and dropping unused items out of the window as a new beginning.

New Year’s Eve is celebrated differently through out the world.  Whether it be a traditional food, certain color of underwear, or best place to catch the fireworks, celebration seems to be the global theme of New Year’s Eve.

Sexy Halloween Parties 2009 in New York

Halloween equals sexy. Halloween is the epitome of sexy. Sure, you have your fair share of goblins and witches, fake blood and masks – but the majority of Halloween party goers celebrate the holiday simply because it is an excuse to let down your hair (and your neckline) and show off your “assets” without caring what anyone thinks… maybe because more than half of the population has the same perspective in mind as well.

It’s a time to live out your childhood fantasies of being a super macho wrestler, complete with your ‘worked all summer long for abs’ and slick red robe and gloves. The perfect time to imitate that iconic superhero, live out the stereotyped cheerleader or get in tune with your inner teacher’s pet – because nerds are sexy too, truthfully. This year more then ever, we New Yorker’s (in conjunction with the rest of the nation) want nothing more then to forget about the fact that we may be momentarily jobless or not getting this year’s holiday bonuses – and drink to our little hearts desire. Not to say that we have become a nation of drunks, but a few tart tequila sunrises sure do help one forget about the days work (or lack there of) and kick back with a few of our dearest acquaintances… or the hot brown hair, blue eyed boy standing around a group of friends wearing Popeye the sailor getup.

So in the spirit of our lovely economy…. Why don’t we all throw on a little something sexy and get together for some bar hopping this Hallow’s Eve 2009! Oh, and just in case you needed a little inspiration to get you motivated in deciding what that something sexy is going to be – here are a nice collection of pictures compliments of Joonbug’s sexy Halloween parties last year.

Rihanna debuted a stunning sparkler over the holidays in London, adding fuel to rumors of a wedding between she and longtime love, Chris Brown. A rep for Rihanna had no comment but Chris Brown’s flack attempted to stop the rumors by telling the Daily News, “they are not engaged.” The couple has attempted to remain under the radar and has never commented on the nature of their relationship. There’s no news of an upcoming album for the spunky rockstar to promote, so we’re hoping this love is for real. However, proceed with caution: the union of these hip-hop superstars may be too good to be true.

Is Rihanna engaged to Chris Brown? [NY Daily News]!
