Located in the heart of the Latino community, Isla Verde brings the breezy and chic atmosphere of the Caribbean to this unlikely gem of North Philly. Though it is a much celebrated dinner destination for modern pan-Latin cuisine, Isla Verde transforms on weekends into a trendy lounge and dance spot with DJs and a live house band. Guests will undoubtedly get swept away to the Caribbean by the fresh beats (and dishes) that Isla Verde is always serving up.

Eats & Drinks

The largely tapas-centered menu has been an instant hit ever since its inception in early 2005. Head chef, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, has masterfully incorporated traditional Spanish ingredients into his exquisite Nuevo Latino cuisine. A whole subsection of the vast menu is devoted to ceviche, and guests are encouraged to order several to share at the table. As far as entrees go, Chef Juan Carlos personally recommends the chuleta suprema and the guava and tamarindo barbeque ribs. You’re probably pretty thirsty by now, so be sure to try a minty mojito or one of Isla’s signature pineapple and coconut martinis.

Ambience

All year round, Isla Verde delivers to guests a tropical atmosphere, full of sandy colors, enchanting music, and delightful island dishes. The mood is completely relaxed and tranquil, precisely the way a tropical getaway should be. But Isla Verde’s sultriness is revealed most during the warmer months, when they open their doors to the outdoor patio, bringing cool breezes and the hues of the sunset into the café.
