30 SECONDS TO MARS

FREQUENCY
A Handful of Musical Acts in the LA Area

For those looking to catch a concert or small show, LA has some intriguing events going on in the next few weeks.

-Dashboard Confessional is performing at the Troubadour on the 19th, 20th, and 21st of January. This is actually a solo tour, where Chris Carrabba (frontman) will be playing Swiss Army Romance in its entirety. It was just announced that Saves the Day will also be touring with Chris Carrabba. This should be a really good show.

-30 Seconds to Mars is going to be playing at the Fox Theatre Pomona on January 14th. Middle Class Rut will also be performing that night.

'Tonight little monsters we're the cool kids.'

Sunday's MTV 2010 Video Music Awards more or less pushed any type of celebrity scandals aside for one night and really focused on what was most important: the music. The night started off with Eminem 8 mile style with a special appearance by Rihanna for their Love the Way you Lie collaboration, which was expected. Some other artists to take the stage included Justin Bieber, Usher, Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars, Florence and the Machine and Drake and Mary J. Blige.

Last year's disastrous 'Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time' moment came to a close as Taylor sang Still an Innocent that was directed to Kanye West. A playback of last year's microphone stealing scene was presented right before her performance. West took a different approach. Kanye ended the night with his song Runaway. He didn't speak out about the actual Swift incident but his lyrics were pretty telling. By singing 'I always find something wrong, you've been putting up with my (bleep) too long' it was obvious that he was owning up to his behavior. Have to say, the three ballerinas during his set was a nice touch. One would think it was to represent Swift herself.
