Behind the Fabric with Suit Designer Stephen Seo
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Stephen Seo a very well established menswear designer. One would think that someone who dresses celebrities and many Fortune 500 big wigs might have a pretentious air about them. Stephen was a true gentlemen in all sense of the word. He also was extremely down to earth and described his interesting experiences in the apparel industry. Stephen exudes a confident and cool attitude that men ascribe to and women love. After a meeting with Rolex a few years back, Stephen who was in marketing at the time, decided that personal presentation is very important to grand success and began his creative journey into menswear. After meeting him and viewing his amazing men's collection, I can easily see why the men of Entourage work with him. As an additional note, he also creates handsome custom tuxedos for those men who have recently gotten engaged! This menswear genius lives in Manhattan overlooking the stock exchange and Wall Street and is inspired by the energy of the area. DP: Tell me about your impeccable suit collections and how you began in the apparel industry? SS: My collection is crafted by hand, a garment takes 60 to 70 hours to complete. I have always had an appreciation for the tradition and craftsmanship of Savile Row in London. I entered this industry as a frustrated consumer myself. I was just looking for clothes that fit me, and the idea of Bespoke seemed like an obvious choice for me. I love fashion and wanted to share my passion with people & with those who want to distinguish themselves. DP: What's the 2012 late/Summer Man-- explain the look and what's going on for Fall 2012? SS: A well-tailored sports blazer has been a great look for the summer-- perhaps with a dress linen shirt. You can wear them with either a pair of shorts or denim jeans. Very cool look! The same blazer will take you into Fall. It's all about being versatile. However, a big check or windowpane pattern will be very big for this Fall. They are very classic and a sophisticated look. It's all about the details. DP: You dress the men of Entourage - tell me about that experience! What other celebrities do you work with? SS: Entourage was one of greatest opportunities for Stephen Seo's history. It was a awesome lifestyle showcase for our target audience. They were fun to work with and appreciated hand crafted garments. The cast even wanted to keep my garments for their own events! We are hoping to work with David Beckham and Daniel Craig on future projects that are in the works. DP: Men, like women need to look polished. What's the one item in your collection every man should own? SS: A lot of men forget to wear a pocket square. That is a very important key element to complete "the look." You can choose a printed Italian silk, cotton, or linen, depends on the occasion. It's the perfect way to polish-off your look, men! DP: I hope all of the men out there are taking notes. What's your best advice for other men and women looking to break into the business and fashion industries. SS: Confidence is the one word that we all need to believe in. Whatever you design, style or wear, maximizing your confidence level is the most important thing in fashion.

David Beckham Makes History with Elle UK

The soccer-star, underwear designer/model and all-around style icon can now add history-making cover model to his fashionable resume. Last week, Beckham made history when posing before the lens for his cover shoot for the British Elle July Issue in Los Angeles; marking the first time in which a male will appear solo for a women’s glossy magazine.

It comes as no surprise that the British magazine and star have partnered for the milestone in fashion magazine and editorial history. 2012 marks an exciting time for the nation as all eyes will be on the city of London as it hosts the 30th Summer Olympic Games. Beckham, the true embodiment of UK style stardom and athleticism, seems quite the natural choice for the groundbreaking issue.

Elle UK Editor-In-Chief Lorraine Candy released the statement adding, “ David Beckham is a national hero, so we saw an opportunity to shoot a celebratory cover to support a historical and patriotic year...He is an icon and ELLE is known for featuring icons on its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike.”

The 36-year-old Beckham has had plenty of experience flexing his muscles, both on the soccer field and in front of cameras, appearing on the covers of Vanity Fair, GQ, Arena, various editions of Men's Health, Wall Street Journal Magazine, and even W magazine with wife Victoria, to name a few. The former Manchester United and LA Galaxy star has also been featured in Emporio Armani and recently H&M underwear campaigns, but this issue, set to appear on newsstands May 30th will mark the first time in which a male will appear solo for a women's magazine cover.

Past, Present, Future: Interview with Triple F.A.T Goose Clothing

by Arthur Stubbs

We had a chance to chat with Triple F.A.T Goose clothing about past, present, future, and their upcoming tour. Check out our exclusive interview and what's to come for the label!

What is the inspiration behind the name/brand?

TFG (http://www.triplefatgoose.com) started off primarily as an outerwear brand (Triple F.A.T. Goose) back in the late 80s. We brought it back a few years ago and launched a sportswear collection to complement it. There are two divisions to the brand, TFG for sportswear and Triple F.A.T. Goose for the down jackets. The reaction to both labels has been great so far. We are inspired by European contemporary influences and also by elements of music. For example, our spring 2012 collection comes complete with twill tape emblazoned with the phrase “Empowering Indie Bands Everywhere.” That statement is actually a key part of our brand positioning for coming seasons. I know a lot of fashion companies collaborate with bands but we’re actually doing it on a much deeper level.
