There's no doubt about it. More couples get engaged on Valentine's Day than any other day of the year. And with that comes a steady flow of engagement announcements followed by summer weddings. We all know wedding planning can be exciting yet stressful. That's where LOVEPOST.com comes in. It's an interactive community where couples can get advice, share their engagement announcements, photos, love stories, wedding plans, and more. They can interact with other users and even link up their Twitter and Facebook accounts. LOVEPOST gives couples a specialized space to create a profile that encourages users to share their photos and love story. In other words, it's okay to gloat and coo on LOVEPOST! That's what it's all about.
You can also browse, build a feed, and even follow a topic, couple or an expert. For more information visit www.lovepost.com.
It’s official: Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg has finally come out against the SOPA bill. The millions of Facebook users can feel less guilty about using the social network after today’s protest and a few words with their senators. It’s surprising how much of our lives are wrapped around the websites we communicate through. Today, many resist the allure of their favorite sites and the itch to update statuses and check “walls” has never been stronger. The truth is, many of the ways we keep in touch are online. Facebook makes it so much more possible and easier to keep in contact with friends and family.
Unless you’re the luckiest person alive, there are more than a few unflattering photos bearing your image floating around out there. Unfortunately in 2012, they most likely end up on the internet… as your friend’s profile picture because she thinks she looks great. Rather than hacking her account to take the photo down, avoid the bad snap shot all together. There is a science to taking a good picture and it doesn’t state that one is required to wear a size two or win beauty pageants.
FACE- Forward and down
Facebook hasn’t exactly been a helping hand in keeping people smart on the internet. Status updates, game invites, and being tagged in embarrassing pictures doesn’t do much for the learning process. Robots given their own social network, however, can apparently learn a lot, according to Carlos Asmat, the project coordinator for MyRobots.com. The project aims to see what different types of robots or even household objects can learn or effectively communicate to one another and their owners by updating their statuses.
Here's how it works: with the click of a button, you can receive instant updates from friends, celebrities, and public figures who want to share their thoughts with the the world.
Sound familiar?
The "subscribe" button, Facebook's most recent invention (besides its expected $10 billion IPO), is as close to a Twitter feed as you can get. But like Microsoft in the 90's, Facebook is capable of taking someone else's idea, relabeling it, and making it accessible to everyone.
You've always been subscribed to your friends: whenever one of them changes their status or posts a photo, it automatically pops up on your news feed. But with Facebook limiting personal accounts to five thousand friends (Angelina Jolie still hasn't accepted my friend request or my numerous phone calls), it can be difficult to keep track of your favorite athletes, movie stars, journalists, and web personalities. By clicking "subscribe," your news feed keeps you updated with any news they feel compelled to share.
While the computing power of Facebook allows its users to share more photos, links, and info than its compeTwitters (not to mention its newly-upped character limit of 63,206), the subscription service is new, and only a handful of celebrities are taking advantage. With its unequaled Facebook stalking skills, the Joonbug staff has compiled the Best Facebook Subscriptions thus far.

So the transfer between offline life and online life hasn’t always been graceful. Before Myspace or Facebook, the average person didn’t have too many reasons to take photos of themselves. It’s not that no one was interested in your new outfit, haircut, or boring day alone with a webcam. It’s just that no one had a reason or way to see them. The dawn of digital profiles and easy to access social networks changed all that. Now it’s all about pictures and documenting every bit of minutiae in our lives.
Some see it as narcissistic. Others see it as a new way of sharing. Mathieu Grac proves that we certainly look silly while doing it. We’ve all seen friends post pictures of themselves alone in their rooms, in ways they think look cool and sexy. Now and then they really do look great, but most times they seem out of place and silly. Let’s face it, setting is a big deal, and humor in setting is what Grac explores. He captures each of his subjects in typical profile picture settings--that is, alone in their rooms, striking all too dramatic poses.
