FASHION
It’s official; Macy’s fashionistas sure know how to throw a great party. In celebration of the brand new INC collection and Editor at Large Kate Young, celebrity stylist and fashionista in her own right, the store hosted a stylish soiree last night. It was fashion with a view, if you will, at Le Bain atop The Standard Hotel. Against the backdrop of the Hudson River and New York City’s sparkling lights, the collection was presented on mannequins and a few stylish live models. But we’ll discuss that in a minute; let’s talk more about the party.
Jason Wu + NEST Fragrances
Just when we thought the buzz around Jason Wu couldn’t get any bigger—due to the designer’s much anticipated collection for Target—it does! In a brand new design direction, we find out Wu is also collaborating with NEST Fragrances on a signature candle scent. So not only will our apts look better thanks to all that Jason Wu apparel, they’ll smell better too! The scent is Orchard Rain, a fragrance that combines pear with cattleya orchid, Birchwood, leather and peppercorn. The candles can be found at department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks starting in April; Orchard Rain is just the first in a series of luxurious scents. Should we expect more Jason Wu diffusion lines in the future? “I think the home market is something I’m really interested in. Also the beauty market. I think Nest sort of crosses the line between both markets,” he said. “So it seems to be the perfect introduction.”

We all have our favorite pair. Soft worn cotton, perfect fit—these jeans have been a wardrobe staple since before ‘skinny’ was in. Unfortunately, the wear and tear has begun to show, and with it comes the first painful steps on the path towards letting them go. Until now. Since solving your sartorial problems is our specialty, we have a solution for you!
It’s DenimTherapy.com and these jean gurus are your new best friends. While patches are perfect if you’re feeling groovy, they aren’t going to keep your denim classy. Denim Therapy uses MatchPerfect™ cotton thread selection process to find the closet match to your pair’s thread color as possible. The result? A like-new, seemingly flawless finish.
Kate Middleton was thrust onto the fashion scene whether she wanted to be or not, once news broke of her engagement to Prince William. The Dutchess of Cambridge has been acclaimed for her perfectly put-together and lady-like ensembles. Several blogs have spawned with the mission of documenting (and helping you copy) Mrs. Kate's every stylish move including dutchessofcambridgestyle.org, katemiddletonstyle.org and whatkatewore.com. Kate's looks even inspired countless Halloween costumes this year.
For some reason, twice a year, women feel the need to wear as little clothing as possible. Those two occasions are Halloween and New Year's Eve. While many women bask in the glory of feeling justified for being scantily clad, many of us would rather keep a little to the imagination. Seeing someone's butt cheeks hang down from under their dress veers off the sexy path and into, "WTF is she wearing?" So, to avoid such disasters, here are 4 looks for 4 different types of parties that are both sexy AND classy. Whether you're headed to the club or out with the family, here are some pointers for keeping all eyes on you for the right reasons.
Next fall, there is going to be an exciting addition to the accessories departments at your favorite luxury stores. Ermanno Scervino is finally answering the prayers of women all across the world and launching Ermanno Scervino Scarves.
Karl Lagerfeld is the subject of some pretty interesting rumors right now. Allegedly he’s planning on making Alice Dellal the new face of Chanel. Is it finally time to take Chanel’s timeless glamour, class, and elegance into a more modern, edgy direction?

Well, you can find this phenomenal trifecta at Grit N Glory, Lower East Side’s newest gathering spot. After a soft opening in November, the duo hosted their grand opening event this week, and we have to say, it’s our new favorite place for a cup of joe and good time. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see the drum set and guitars in the window, as if the band just took five for some shots of espresso. Come on in, and like us, you’ll be stopped in your tracks with the sights. At first glance you may notice the floor to ceiling “chalkboard” wall. Yes, a community art board! Feel free to pick up some chalk and have at it. Next, four shiny vintage hub cab clocks, set to various significant time zones, might catch your attention--or the realization that your personal favorite classic rock album happens to be playing. As you relax in the warm, cappuccino colored atmosphere, observe the art on the walls and other functional fixtures. Almost everything is for sale allowing a “vivid evolution of decoration” to gradually take place. There will always be something new to look at, one of Grit N Glory’s most unique characteristics.
Unless you're looking for home items or baby clothes, you'll be hard pressed to get your hands on any Missoni for Target; even though the retailer restocked and put the collection back on the site yesterday. What you'll see is mostly leftovers, as all the coveted pieces are gone again (and probably being listed on Ebay for 10 times their cost as I write this article). Blast!
