JUSTIN BIEBER
So far, it's been a very Bieber Christmas, and if you don't have 'Bieber Fever' by now, you must be hiding under a rock.
First he was on The Today Show the week of Thanksgiving, then he performed with Usher at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony and then he was in a remake of All I Want for Christmas is You with Mariah Carey.
And now, the 17-year-old has his own animated video for the classic Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Mr. Kringle and Topper the Penguin, who starred in Rankin-Bass's version of Santa Claus is Comin to Town, join Bieber as he skates around and rides reindeer, which is quite amusing!
Ah, Thanksgiving. The time of year where families reunite, turkeys are consumed in copius amounts, gluttony ensues... and fellow Americans pepper spray each other to get a moderate discount on an Xbox 360. Well, at least this year. One can always rely on national holidays to ring in interesting headlines. So, in case you were in a tryptophan-induced coma for the past 4 days, here's a roundup of what happened in the interim:
Poor Biebs. He was on top of the world, #1 hits, devoted girlfriend, millions of adoring fans. He is the quintessential rags to riches story, living the American Dream. Of course, along with the wonderful American lifestyle comes freedom. Freedom to pursue your dreams, freedom of speech, and freedom to sue whoever the hell you please, apparently. Take 20-year-old Mariah Yeater for example. Yeater filed a paternity suit against Justin Bieber yesterday in L.A. claiming he is the father of her 3 month old son. The suit claims Yeater took Bieber's virginity in an unprotected encounter in October 2010 backstage at one of his concerts in L.A. Bieber's reps are vehemently denying the claims dismissing them as "malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false" adding they "will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations."
After the two attended Selena’s pal Demi Lovato’s concert this past Friday at the Nokia Theater, Justin told Selena “Follow me," and led her through an underground tunnel, connecting the Nokia Theater to the Staples Center right next door.
Waiting for Selena was an empty arena with a fairy-tale dinner set for two, courtesy of the Center’s restaurant The Lexus Club, with dimmed lights, candles, the whole nine yards. According to TMZ, Justin got the idea from Adam Sandler movie Mr. Deeds, where Sandler’s character brings love interest Winona Ryder to an empty Madison Square Garden for a romantic Italian dinner.
Unknowing to the already shocked songstress, the surprises were not over yet. After their dinner, Justin arranged for Titanic to be played on the big screen for the two. So sweet.
Justin later posted on his Twitter, “romance isnt dead. treat your lady right fellas. #REAL."
Justin didn’t even have to spend a dime on the night either. Since, he had sold out the arena three times, they allowed him to have the place for the night free of charge. Wow!
The Biebs is surely the king of Selena’s world after that night. Who knew he was such a romantic? Hold on to this one Selena, we think he’s a keeper!
Hailing out of Dallas, Texas, electronic/hardcore unit Crown The Empire is making waves in the music scene without even releasing a full length record. This five-piece showcases impressive musicality and memorable lyrics. Coupled with their catchy hooks and dance break-downs, there's just something for everyone to listen to.
Q: Electronic hardcore sounds like an evolution of sound. What made you choose that genre?
A: "Growing up, we all went to a lot of hardcore shows and we knew the kids, including us, had a lot of fun going."
Q: What bands would you say were and are your biggest influences?
For anyone paying attention to today’s pop culture scene, it was easy to predict who would win big at this year’s Teen Choice Awards.
The show, hosted by The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco, highlights the year's biggest achievements in entertainment while putting a spin on the typical awards show archetype. The winners are voted on by teenagers who cast their votes online, and the categories stem from the typical favorites and have come to include Choice Tweeter (Justin Beiber), choice vampire (Robert Pattinson), choice web star (Rebecca Black) and other zany categories.
Could it be? Imagine how Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, & Samantha were in their high-school/college years?
Mum's the word on a possible reboot of the Sex & the City franchise. Rumors and talks have been going on (for what seems like forever) of a new film, but this time, it will supposedly serve as a flashback piece that documents the early days of our favorite NYC ladies. The alleged plotlines would come from the prequel novels of writer/creator Candace Bushnell: "The Carrie Diaries," and "Summer in the City."
What up with the crazies today??
First, Justin Bieber gets caught up in some testerone-fueled physical altercations that turned up just to be a case of mistaken identity in New York. After that, Miley is reportedly encountering some unwelcome guests up in her space as well.
Earlier today in Melbourne, Australia, Miley Cyrus was ambushed by a pint-sized fan who managed to get up on stage after the singer's final song. Ironically, she was singing "The Climb". Maybe the fan just got inspired...?
If you haven’t heard of Christina Grimmie, you’re obviously not too in touch with music these days. In an age where the most talented teens are being discovered by uploading homemade videos, Youtube serves as a major platform in launching mainstream music car eers, such as that of Justin Bieber, Grayson Chance, and Rebecca Black.
Now, a new star is rising to prominence. Christina Grimmie not only has insanely cool hair, but she's also the 7th most subscribed artist on Youtube with over 900,000 subscribers and over 139 million uploads. Her career is about to seriously take off, as she’s going on tour with Selena Gomez this summer. Christina’s first single, “Advice”, will be released on June 11th, and her debut album will be independently released on June 14th.
Slim Shady, a.k.a Eminem is back to tracking disses. In his latest work, Em takes a jab at tween sensation, Justin Beiber -and who would've guessed it , Lady Gaga. In the new track off the upcoming "Hell: The Sequel" album with Royce da 5'9, Em (famous for comical disses and slamming pop stars) plays on the old hermaphrodite rumors.
"Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office, she's still a male lady. Wouldn't f **ck her with her d**k,You heard it.The verdict's in."
