NATALIE PORTMAN
The Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concert, (October 2009) started this mess. For it was this weekend, at a breathlessly packed Madison Square Garden, that two disparate rock sensations, Lou Reed and Metallica high fived over an unprovoked collaboration album. While the music world covered the news with undisputed anticipation, and quite understandable curiosity ("What could the world’s hugest metal band and the co-founder of the avant-rock deities the Velvet Underground possibly have in common," said Ben Sisario of The New York Times on October 27, 2011) the fan base was dubious from the start. In either case, Lulu came and saw, but far from conquered.
Looking into another person’s life can sometimes be intoxicating. Especially when that person has boundless heaps of money, a gorgeous home, exciting social life, and do we even have to mention immaculate abs? Regardless of whether its right or wrong, we all secretly indulge vicariously on the delights (and disasters) of celebrity status. And here for you, is a look into the decadent sanctuaries of some of the hottest stars in NYC.
Adrian Grenier
This piece of Entourage perfection chose a classic tri-level brownstone in Brooklyn, to call home. You can find this charming arched brownstone, and him, in the cute neighborhood of Clinton Hill, where Grenier has set up a (relatively) self-sustainable rooftop garden over his guest retreat. Lucky for us, he’s planning to stay a while and work on his new eco-advocate website SHFT.com.
All together now: Awww!
Lucky girl Natalie Portman, 30, has had quite the year so far. Not only did her performance as perfectionist ballerina Nina Sayers in Black Swan win her a whole slew of acting awards - including the Oscar for Best Actress 2011 - the successful actress has gotten engaged and became a mom for the first time.
Portman gave birth to son Adelph on June 14th, 2011 and had successfully maintained a nice, low profile to protect their growing family's privacy. US Weekly got the exclusive pictures of the proud mama and her son on their little adventures.
Sticks, stones, words, drunken honesty...it doesn't matter. You spew out hate, expect karma to bite you in the ass.
Iconic fashion designer John Galliano, 50, has been found guilty of the anti-Semitic comments to a couple he made back in February at La Perle bar in the Marais District in Paris.
The court ordered Galliano to pay 6,000 euros ( or $8,500) today in Parisian court. He was also ordered to pay a symbolic (?) one euro to one of the plaintiffs. However, the 6,000 euro fine has been suspended due to his constant apologies for his behavior, in the condition that he stay out of trouble in France for five years.
It's a boy!
People magazine reports that Natalie Portman and her Black Swan choreographer/co-star turned fiancé Benjamin Millepied finally got to meet their long-awaited bundle of joy yesterday, 06/14/11. The star had just recently turned 30 on Thursday, making the arrival of her son to be the best...birthday present...EVER.
The Israeli-born actress (raised in New York) previously confessed to following Jewish superstition and has not prepared ANY baby stuff, believing it to be bad luck to do so if the baby is not born yet. Another scary thought on every gossip aficionado's minds, however, is the supposed 'Best Actress' curse where previous winners of the award experienced a downfall in their relationships (e.g. Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, etc...just to name a few).
That's her baby's fault!
Natalie Portman decided to drop veganism because her pregnancy cravings left her wanting eggs and dairy.
She explains, "I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff. I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff.”
“I know there are people who do stay vegan, but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in in your diet.”
Wait a minute... Natalie Portman is not one of the best ballerinas in the world? And a body double covered some complicated dance sequences in Black Swan? Wow, that's big news for a Monday morning.
A few days ago Portman's fiancé, choreographer Benjamin Millepied told the Los Angeles Times that "85 percent of that movie is Natalie.” But some disagree...
Sarah Lane, the American Ballet Theatre soloist who perfected many of the movie's complicated dance sequences, said “Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie. All the other shots are me. I’ve been doing this for 22 years... Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you’re a movie star?”
Sunday's Academy Awards winner Natalie Portman is shocked and doesn't want to be associated in any way with John Galliano after she heard about the anti-Semitic comments he made and after seeing the videotape that surfaced yesterday. Just for the record, Portman is the new face of Miss Dior Cherie...
"I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video" Portman, 29, said in a statement from Los Angeles. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."
After these comments, we can only but wonder if it will affect her contract with Dior...
Natalie Portman: We could hardly believe that Natalie was a mommy-to-be last night at the Oscars! The Black Swan star looked absolutely beautiful, and fashionable as ever in a deep purple Rodarte gown, accessorized with Tiffany jewelry.
Mila Kunis: The (other) Black swan star was nothing short of fabulous- Mila arrived in a gorgeous lavender gown designed by none other then Elie Saab!
Anne Hathaway: The Oscar hostess set the trend for incredibly stylish red gowns with her first (of four!) ensembles- a bright red strapless Valentino gown, paired with an extremely shiny diamond necklace. Perfection!
Last night, millions of people were gathered behind their TV to watch the 83rd Academy Awards Ceremony. Los Angeles was without any doubts the place to be. But let's be honest, the ceremony was tasteless.
Hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco were too much. They tried really hard to do their best but it didn't pay off. They are actors, not comedians.
Melissa Leo dropped the F-Bomb during her acceptance speech for her Supporting win in The Fighter: "When I watched Kate two years ago, it looked so f---ing easy." she said. Very classy.
