SNL
Wasting time at work is an art form. Take it from someone who reads articles in "print" form so they look less like websites and more like long, important memoranda. Like an exercise regimen, it's not an interest -- it's a lifestyle. If you want to get as little work done as possible, as you've got to prepare.
Time to assemble your cubicle survival kit.
Stapler? Check. Extra pens? Check. Earphones to block out the annoying co-worker who keeps laughing at her friend's hilarious tweet? Check. Now for the real gear: a big important spreadsheet to click over to when your boss walks by...and some awesomely hilarious websites to help you get through lunch. And if laughter is the best medicine, look for the 10 sites with that pack the biggest punch. Here they are.
Could Kristen Wiig be joining the group of retired SNL stars gone movie stars?
According to Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman, this very well may be. The 38-year-old actress had joined the SNL crew back in 2005 and has since become one of the show’s brightest stars. Wiig has been nominated for three years consecutively in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for a Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on Saturday Night Live. Kristen has brought to life some of the shows funniest characters such as Sue, the woman who could not control her excitement, Penelope, the nut who craves attention, and who can forget the mischievous high school girl Gilly. Wiig has also nailed her parodies of Kathie Lee Gifford and Michele Bachmann.
Over the past year, Kristen’s career has really taken off. Bridesmaids, which she co-wrote and starred in, has made her a household name as the funny chick. This movie had become Judd Apatow’s highest grossing movie. Quite impressive, considering all the hits Apatow has already created.
Kristen is already in the process of working on different projects outside of Studio 8H. IMDB states that Wiig has wrapped up with movie Revenge for Jolly! and is currently filming Imogene with Glee's Darren Criss, Matt Dillon, and Annette Bening. She will also be reprising her role of Ruffnut in How to Train Your Dragon 2, set to be released in 2014.
According to The Huffington Post, Kristin has already retired two of her recurring characters on SNL (Gilly and Penelope). So sad to see them go, but even more sad to see Kristen go. It is also said that Jason Sudeikis might be joing Kristen in her end-of-season graduation. Nothing has been completely confirmed as of yet. The two are very strong characters on the show and they will leave large shoes to fill, but hey -- the show much go on!

"Can we get a Happy Meal? Will somebody get this guy a Happy Meal?!" (Big Daddy)
Let's give the guy who brought us the wonders of Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison a big birthday hug! Or at least the one ass grab/spank every birthday celebrant is allowed each year. It isn't a Happy Meal, but it'll do.
Do we honestly expect Adam Sandler to grow up? Nope. And we would like for it to stay that way, thank you. Who else but Mr. Sandler could get away with toilet humor, dimwitted stupidity, and boob jokes nowadays? Most especially in this incredibly pretentious film culture we live in. We give the comedian props for sticking to his signature style. Love him or hate him (talking to YOU, uptight movie critics), Adam Sandler has been on a nonstop roll from his old Saturday Night Live gig all the way to his successful actor/producer role at his company, Happy Madison Productions.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. After shoving your way through a hoard of tourists in Times Square and shelling out for tickets, you and your date sit down for a night of stand-up comedy. Only problem is, the food sucks, the act isn’t funny, and your waiter just informed you that your overpriced cocktail isn’t included in your two drink minimum.
But seriously, folks.
If you want to really want to bust a gut, look no further than New York’s best underground comedy venues. In addition to some solid stand-ups, you’ll find some world-class improv teams and top-notch sketch shows. Oh, and did we mention cheap? With a top ticket price of $15, with well-priced drinks aplenty, here are your top 5 comedy venues in New York:
Love him or hate him, David Spade never fails to make an impression. At 47 years old, the mullet-donning star of Joe Dirt doesn't seem to show any signs of stopping.
David Spade made a name for himself in the 90s when he joined the all-star lineup of Saturday Night Live, both as a cast member and a writer. The actor/stand-up comic is known for his biting wit and sarcastically deadpan-yet-silly delivery, with a slacker attitude on the side. He then graduated into other television shows, notables one include: Just Shoot Me & 8 Simple Rules.
NBC just announced it, and this is pretty cool news!
Katy Perry beloved one will make his debuts on SNL for the February 12 show and Chris Brown will star as the musical guest.
Russell Brand will also lend his voice to the upcoming feature Hop which will be released on April 1st. He will also star in Arthur's remake with Helen Mirren on April 8th.
As for Chris Brown, despite his trouble with the justice after the "Rihanna case", his single No BS has held the top the Urban Mainstream radio airplay chart for two consecutive weeks. His fourth album F.A.M.E is due out March 22nd.
Ne-Yo got more than just a little support Sunday, Nov. 21, during his black carpet affair in Avalon Hollywood. The R&B singer and producer was joined by friends at his VEVO and Compound Entertainment sponsored show and after party. The Ne-Yo and Friends Party started off with some Moet and Chandon champagne and ended with some collaborative surprise performances.
Diddy came out to perform It’s All About the Benjamins and Mo Money Mo Problems. Even Jamie Foxx was pressured to join the stage. Ne-Yo’s band started playing She Got Her Own and it was all over for the actor. Ne-Yo also took pictures with fans during a Kelly Rowland performance and Keri Hilson fooled everyone. Acting quite sly and stating she was just there to enjoy, the singer popped out of her seat a moment later with microphone in hand to collaborate Knock You Down.
"Twenty three is still growing up. Who you are is not who you've been; you're still an innocent", Taylor Swift sang at this year's 2010 VMA's. The words "Kanye West" never exited the 20 year old songstress's mouth during the song, however the topic was obvious. This was Swift's way of saying, I forgive you, to West for interrupting her acceptance speech during last years 2009 VMA'S. After crashing the stage last year, ranting about Beyonce and leaving a mortified Taylor speechless, West was rumored to fall into a deep depression. Rumor blogs wrote that West was on suicide watch, commentators questioned his sanity, and the news reported the dramatic scene more than the war. During the months after Swift took a very mature stance, never even whispering a word of slander about West, and saying very little regarding the incident. One of the few times Taylor did spoke out about it was on Oprah. While hosting SNL she sang "You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye, and how he ran up on stage and ruined my VMA monologue. But there's nothing to say because everything's OK". Kanye was quoted saying "She's just a little girl with dreams like the rest of us. She deserves the apology more than anyone. I'm ready to go out of my way."
As a big fan of Saturday Night Live, I've always wished they'd show the process of how each episode is created, or how they decide which sketches would make the air and which get the ax. Thanks to James Franco, we finally will get a glimpse into the madness of a weeks work at SNL.
The documentary Saturday Night, which debuted at this years Tribeca Film Festival, started out as one of Franco's student projects for NYU's Tisch program - a seven-minute short about cast member Bill Hader.
There's always been an interest to film the making of an episode, Franco explained how there've been other attempts to capture the chaos, "Lorne told me that D.A. Pennebaker actually asked once to do a documentary, back in the '70s, and he said no. So I was very fortunate he said yes."
