THE TONIGHT SHOW
Everything is right with the world again! Conan O'Brien is back with his new show premiering tonight on TBS!
These past few months have gone by slow ever since the comedian quit NBC's The Tonight Show during the uncomfortable Leno battle. Now its time to welcome back the laughs and perhaps even an insulting comic dog and inappropriate bear with Conan.
Rumor has it that our favorite redhead will be bringing on guests such as Glee's Lea Michele, comic actor Seth Rogan and Jack White as the musical guest for the first show.
More A-list celebrities maybe stopping by for tonight's 11 p.m. premiere, including a mystery guest. We don't care who it is though, just as long as Conan's back.
Conan O'Brien will go on to another show but his sidekick Max Weinberg won't. Rumor has it that Max Weinberg of the E Street Band will be stepping down to drum for Springsteen permanently. Say it isn't so Max! Jimmy Vivino, a musician under Weinberg, is expected to take over.
The TBS show should have just asked Kevin Eubanks from The Tonight Show. It seems only fair. Jay Leno steals Conan's spot so Conan gets Eubanks.
Conan O'Brien is hungry for an Emmy! TBS, the network currently employing him, is campaigning for him to be nominated for an Emmy for "The Tonight Show" on NBC. The executives at TBS have sent this ad to all the major trades in hopes of getting support for him. This will undoubtedly piss off NBC. Hopefully he gets the nomination because it is well deserved.
In case you haven't heard by now (you are on the internet, after all) or somehow managed to miss reading the headline of this post, NBC has announced plans to push the "Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brien back 30 minutes. Conan responded by stating he would not host the franchise if moved to the 12:05 spot. Speculations about Conan's future at NBC, including his own, have been widely debated since. According to many, NBC's recent prime time ratings slump prompted this most recent move. The 11:35 spot would be filled by a program hosted by recently departed "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno, whose recent prime time venture was cancelled after less than 6 months. And then things start to get interesting.
Turning on the radio, the TV, or the computer, you may feel as if you are having a flash-back of the ‘90s. The main squeeze popping up everywhere, again, is Pearl Jam. They re-issued the album Ten on Mar 24, 2009. They also have an upcoming album in the works called Backspacer, scheduled for an early fall release (according to Billboard).
This is the first album the band will be releasing without being under contract with Sony-affiliated labels. Instead, they have a group of partners- one of which being Target as their "big box" retail partner. Don’t worry, Pearl Jam is not selling out. It is also rumored that they are partnering with indie retail stores. Kelly Curtis, the manager of the band, told Billboard that, “Target ended up allowing us to have other partners. We'll be able to take care of all levels of the Pearl Jam fan...Target was cool enough to realize that little independent record stores are not their competition.”
