Travel Essentials: What You Need for Hitting the Road
With the holiday season approaching travel plans are being made to visit our loved ones. Perhaps, you're going on a well-deserved vacation. As women, I think we usually tend to "over-pack" and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of this at least a few (ahem) - ok, maybe more than a few times during my traveling life. I decided to set out to find the most useful and allowable items that one can bring with them on a trip (it's hard to keep-up, with all of the constantly changing rules and regulations).

Chic New Boutique Openings

What’s better than shopping your favorite brands, locally, in the city? Shopping your favorite brands at a brand spanking new retail space, of course! We’ve rounded up details on the latest new ventures, each bringing their own unique flair to various Manhattan neighborhoods. Crisp and clean, fresh and new, we guarantee these stores to be worth the trek around town.

Lacoste, a brand synonymous with preppy chic, brings their niche to a new market with a brand new store opening in Soho mall. The 4,700 square-foot space opened this past weekend featuring men’s, women’s, and children’s lines and the most extensive footwear assortment in the country. The “Croc’s new look downtown” is slightly less institutional and a bit more historical behind the cast iron fronted location. Colorful contemporary collections and accessories are plentiful; a 180-degree turnaround from the Footlocker that previously occupied the address. Located on one of the most trafficked streets in New York, the newest venture is expected to rank among the brand’s highest-grossing stores per square foot. The streamlined shopping experience at Lacoste remains and despite our appreciation, we’ve concluded OCD must be a requirement to work there.

Hey There Bright Eyes!

We have all seen the bright beauty looks of the Spring/Summer catwalks, and have found Derek Lam’s coral eye to be particularly envy inducing. But can we wear it during the day without looking a little freaky?

Derek Lam used a combination of orange and coral shadow close to the upper lid, accented with stripes of iridescent white highlighter, to achieve this high fashion look. The face was kept neutral, with no more than a nude lip to complement. To replicate this look for daytime, lightly shade in the brows and apply a neutral beige shadow from lid to brow. Next, take a thin angled brush, and wet and dip into a sparkling salmon shadow such as Mac 'Neo Orange' Pigment. Apply in a thin line above the upper lash line and finish with a coat of black mascara. As with Lam’s models, keep the face neutral and clean. Just a touch of coral blush such as Benefit’s 'Coralista' combined with a nude lip such as Mac's 'Myth' completes the look.
