Inside Voodoo Music Experience 2011

Heading down to the Big Easy is always a favorite time for us (my fiancé’s a New Orleanian) so when I caught wind of lineup addition’s Snoop Dog and Girl Talk, I knew we had to go. The trek to Voodoo began last Thursday, October 27th, when we flew from NYC to Nola, in excited anticipation of the opening day. After a day of walking around the quarter, hitting up the flea market, costume shops, and snagging a few beignets at Café du Monde, we headed over to check in at the Hotel Monteleone and went to bed early (and yes, it's New Orleans, and drinking is everyone’s part-time job there, but we were too exhausted to go guzzle hurricanes that night).

With 10 Grammy Nominations Eminem Completes

The Grammy Nominations were announced earlier this week. Like most Grammy years there were few surprises, what did surprise most was the man who came away with the most nominations.

That's right, Eminem. Slim Shady himself has his name in most catagories, except for maybe Country. As we've seen that doesn't necessarily mean he will win them all, not with the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift out there. The fact he was able to come out of the hole he was in, and pull himself together to make such an incredible album, and put his name back up there with the nominees speaks volumes about the "The Real Slim Shady"!

Drummer Gives Up His Drums To Promote A Drug-Free World

Travis Barker is a rock star that doesn't need to “rock” to truly be a star. He is donating 10 to 20 of his own drum sets to New York City schools in hope that young children would choose music over drugs and alcohol. He is donating his instruments to One Life, One Chance and a program run by Toby Morse (from the punk band H2O), to enforce a lifestyle that does not involve drugs. This all will begin at Gramercy Arts High School on Dec 1.

What a wonderful thing to do! Thank you Travis for kicking off this holiday season by giving. We will surely follow you and continue to take “ACTION!”

Travis Barker, Tom Morello, Raekwon & RZA together for a hit (video inside)

This is going to be a name dropping article. We have in this "Carry It" song a team of famous guys : Travis Barker from Blink 182, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, Raekwon and RZA who are in the Wu-Tang. Travis Barker who originally is a punk music drummer worked with a lot of hiphop stars this year : Lil Wayne, A-Trak (DJ), T.I, and Waka Flocka.

He also called Rick Ross, B.o.B, Swizz Beatz, Ludacris, and members of Linkin Park and Slipknot to work on his collaborative solo album called "Give the Drummer Some".

This album sould be released in february. Raekwon said about "Carry It" : "This is beautiful, man. This is going to be a f**king hit record." Well I do love Raekwon and Wu-Tang's music in general. However, I found this song pretty boring. Tom Morello's guitar solo is pretty cool, but that's it.

Hair Today, Bought Tomorrow

Obsessive fans will do anything to get closer to their favorite artists. There is even a black-market for over enthusiastic fans to buy used pieces of clothing, half-eaten sandwiches and even snotty tissues so long as they were blown by “so-and-so.” The collector’s item that typically divides the true-blue fans from the shady stalkers is the lock of hair.

Which is exactly what certain fans of Fall Out Boy will receive if they preorder the band’s new album, Believers Never Die. The select group of superfans, known as the “Overcast Kids,” will receive a lock of bassist Pete Wentz’s hair along with a special gift package if they cough up the $130 for the special edition package of the band’s greatest hits album.

Upcoming Tour Dates: Panic! At The Disco

Panic! at the Disco first came on the scene as an extravagant, showy, eyeliner wearing group. They held a punk/emo vibe that swept the nation with their first hit single, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Now-a-days, they are rocking out in a new way, losing the make-up and going for a more natural look. Their new sound emulates '60s-rock, getting their inspiration from The Beatles. A new album will be coming out in the next few months.

Even More Super Duper Important Grammy News!

The Grammys have done the impossible! That’s right, they’ve arranged for a Blink-182 reunion. My 14 year-old self is jumping for joy. Oh, wait, they’re just presenting. Anyways, this will mark the first time the band has appeared on stage together since 2004 when it was announced they would take an indefinite hiatus. [RS] The reunion was announced during a roll call of presenters as if it were NO BIG DEAL. Really? Have these people no 14 year-old selves?

In other Grammy news, M.I.A. will probably give birth onstage. Seriously, Grammy night is her due date and for some reason she has agreed to perform.
