Okay. So this may seem long and disparaging but don't worry, these cookies are worth the hard work. Now, New Year's Eve may seem far away but at the pace these months have been flying by it'll be here in no time. This recipe from Epicurious makes a perfect dessert to share with friends in the new year. So roll up your sleeves and make a resolution to try new things and get cookin'! Here's what you need... dough
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 sticks (1/2 pound) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
