Yesterday, Dubspot began a series of production and performance workshops, each streamed live, across their world, from their hometown in New York City.
If you didn't get a chance to check out yesterday's workshop, tune in on Friday, July 29, when the celebrated King Britt, as well as Rucyl Mills, present their "Saturn Never Sleeps" project. This examination of their creative process involves a close look at recording, controllers, and performance techniques. King Britt will be an excellent teacher; he's been a pioneer in the electronic music world since 1994, when he co-founded Ovum Recording with Josh Wink. In 1999, King Britt joined forces with Rucyl, for only two performances and the pair has a long-waited debut collaboration set to be released next month. Influenced by the innovative, avant-garde jazz musician Sun-Ra, the pair has honed an improvisational style that showcases their intuitive musical talent. Check it out during this very special workshop. Click here for a Facebook RSVP.
Girls, break out your sexiest corsets and thigh-highs; gents, don your nicest boxers - it's that time of year. While the East coast is getting mobbed with snow and ice, Vegas is heating up and shedding clothes. The 25,000+ square foot Haze Nightclub at Aria is hosting a "Boxers and Bustiers" party tonight, offering ladies in lingerie free drinks until midnight and a chance to win $5000 for being the sexiest in pj's. Miami's DJ Irie will be spinning, so prepare to imbibe those free drinks, dance, and make some bad decisions - all without having to worry about changing once you finally decide it's time to hit the sack. After all, who doesn't want to parade around in the expensive attire that normally doesn't get to leave the bedroom?
This past week it was announced that Levinson Jewelers of Fort Lauderdale has teamed up with DJ Irie, Miami Heat’s celebrity deejay, on a new line of music inspired jewelry.
Aptly named ‘Peace Thru Music’, this collection is an assortment of necklaces and bracelets with a peace symbol surrounded by a record (retailing at $395). The necklace showcases the ‘Peace Thru Music’ pendant on a thick piece of leather cording while the bracelet displays the same pendant on black and white prayer-like beads. In addition to the funky design, a portion of the proceeds for this collection will go to 'Peace Thru Music,' which is an organization that works with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. According to Robin Levinson, co-owner of Levinson Jewelers, teaming up with DJ Irie on this project was a no-brainer. “This was a natural collaboration, considering both Levinson Jewelers and DJ Irie represent an elite sense of style,” said Levinson. “Together we hope to develop a trendsetting line of jewelry that is fashionable and functional, and all to benefit the wonderful cause and tremendous mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters.”
Everyone's favorite abusive boyfriend, um... I mean R&B sensation, Chris Brown, is hosting tomorrow night's party at Mia at Biscayne. The party will be going until 5am with music by DJ Irie, but that's no excuse to arrive late. If you want to see Chris Brown you may have to get there early in order to beat (not literally, Chris, I'm looking at you) the crowd.
