Zac Posen for Target: Lookbook Here!

Initially, I got a little Erin Wasson misty-eyed when I saw the model-off-duty stance from the model while reviewing the Zac Posen for Target lookbook. I was then thrown into a riot of emotions as i picked up traces of other designers: a little Christopher Kane, some Gucci here, Michael Kors there. I'm sure you catch my drift. Zac's trademark motifs, (the tulle party dress ($80), faux red carpet gowns, and let's not forget the two-piece tuxedo suit) all make appearances in the collection. But in all honesty, besides my hatred for the footwear and frightful red socks, the entire Target collection is well-rounded - and that's a good thing. The price points seem more than sensible - though I expect there will be a crowded flock for the lipstick tank ($17). But on second thought, isn't there a crowd for every Go International debut? Check into your local Target April 25th for the goods!

Best Fashion Moments of 2009

MObama Shows Off - Amusingly, the First Lady became au fait with an overabundance of American Designers - distinctively, Jason Wu for the Inaugural Ball and the cover of Vogue. Work girlfriend!

Oliver vs. Nina Ricci - Following a season of hypothesized buzz, Nina Ricci and designer, Oliver Theyskens, divided. This left Theyskens out of a job and Nina Ricci to, well, Peter Dundas.

Fashion Week Packs Up - Mayor Bloomberg declared the ending of girls walking the Bryant Park pavements in their Nicolas Kirkwoods, with a fresh start beginning at Lincoln Center next fall. Boo!

Introducing 'Amber Valletta for Monrow'

Not satisfied with her modeling and acting career, Amber Valletta is now looking to add a third string to her bow as she launches her own clothing range with luxe sportswear brand Monrow. I’m getting a little bored of all the model/designer collaborations (Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, Yasmin Le Bon…) but, I must admit, I’m already swayed by the idea of the line, called simply 'Amber Valletta for Monrow',with its sophisticated smoking jackets and tissue-thin t-shirts. And, while model-turned-actress-turned-designer is a bit of a mouthful, with wholesale prices starting from a very affordable $65 we’re sure we can come to terms with it.

New Designers Invade NY Fashion Week...

The trend of top designers being absent from the runways of New York Fashion Week has left the door open for a slew of new talent to show for the first time this September. Some big names on the off-site showing roster are Marchesa, Betsey Johnson and Carmen Marc Valvo, who all share the common goal of saving money. It seems they, as well as many other designers, are not alone in the desire to save, as Anna Wintour fights to salvage high-end fashion. According to New York Magazine, the Vogue Editor-in-Chief felt that the downsizing of designers showing at fashion week has been a positive development because “people that shouldn’t be doing it” are better off with a “low-key presentation.” Despite the harsh criticism of Anna Wintour, the show must go on. Expect to see inspirational new designer collections such as Erin Wasson, whose RVCA collection resembles a Rags to Riches tale. The official schedule is set to release this Friday and the veil of mystery surrounding these unknown new designers will finally be lifted!

High-Profile Heists

Hard times are hitting Hollywood as multiple high-profile homes are robbed. Paris Hilton was robbed last week of nearly $2 million worth of jewelry and personal items. She told Life & Style magazine she is, “…devastated. I cannot believe someone broke into my home. They took items that had such sentimental value that no one will ever be able to replace.” The Post reports that the luggage of a high profile publicist was stolen out of her home as she ate dinner on a different floor. Model and budding designer Erin Wasson was another star present in her home as thieves made off with over ten thousand dollars of jewelry and designer items by Alexander McQueen, Dior, and Givenchy. The three women’s doors were unlocked. If you spot something pink and sparkly on eBay over the holidays, notify Paris’ people immediately, it is most likely priceless.
