Saks Fifth Avenue has taken on the current economic slump with an opportunistic attitude when it comes to the contemporary sector. The first part of the makeover started with the physical space. Saks’ in-house team chose poured concrete and maple flooring and paired that with found furniture pieces and streamlined, steel gray mannequins to create a loft-like environment; very industrial-chic. Then came the difficult clothing line selections. [wwd] The 15 collections that made the cut for Saks’ new Contemporary space include Clu, Elizabeth and James, Geren Ford, Gryphon, Hanii Y, Haute Hippie, Helmut Lang, Organic, Rachel Comey, Rag & Bone, See by Chloé, Superfine, Tenty8Twelve, Vena Cava and What Comes Around Goes Around.
Even though these labels may still be a little out of ones price range, we will definitely head over to Saks to check it out, and so should you.
