Review: The Used at Irving Plaza

Punk veterans, The Used, took their Vulnerable tour to Irving Plaza on Monday night, becoming the new definition of the word "energy."

Lead singer Bert McCracken was the poster child for Adderall; running around stage, spontaneously jumping up and down, waving his arms and still managing to sound on point. Even if someone wasn't in one of the several mosh pits that broke out, they were undoubtedly exhausted from just simply watching him. The energy in the room could have beat out an entire day at Warped Tour. The Used perfectly played their way through an almost two hour set jammed with older tracks and newer ones; proving they know how to keep those original fans happy. The band didn't skip a beat with any of the tracks, playing at least four songs from each album and ending with "Box Full of Sharp Objects." It should also be said that bands need a lot of fan staying power to be around as long as The Used have and it's clear they're aware of that. Fan appreciation matched the live energy, with Bert pausing the set to bring one lucky fan up for "Blue and Yellow." Unfortunately, security had other plans. It's safe to say that fan was probably okay with just the kiss on the lips Bert gave him. The Used have been at this for over 10 years, and it's safe to say they've got enough in them to go for at least 20 more. Photos courtesy of Dani Renee, Buzznet

Hangin' at the Harboring Hearts Spring Gala

Last night was action packed, to say the least. One of our stops amongst the evening's festivities was at the annual Harboring Hearts Spring Gala held at the Rubin Museum of Art in Chelsea. On any given night you can find a multitude of charity happenings throughout NYC. Harboring Hearts managed to win our hearts for the evening not only for a worthy cause but for the salted caramel brownies and gelato stand alone. We know, we know, it's about the cause, not the food, but as closet foodies, we're always kinda obsessed with culinary delights. And they certainly helped enhance an already lovely evening.

Debunking Justin and Selena's Rumored Break-up

The recent Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez break-up rumors have spread like wild fire. By now, whether you are team #beiber, #jelena, or even part of the #rihannanavy, you have heard both versions of Jelena's alleged split in the past week. The first version of the story is that JB reportedly sent Selena a heartless tweet which he immediately deleted! In the second version Selena kicks Biebs to the curb because he supposedly hooked up with Rihanna. Rihanna has recently been linked to every relevant rapper and baller, so even if he's now 18, Beibs hardly seems like her type. Let alone the fact that he and Chris are best buds and were just together on Sunday. The Rihanna rumor is plain ridiculous.

Never Shout Never, Seriously

“I worship you” were the first words Never Shout Never frontman (and main brain behind the NSN project) Christofer Drew said to the sea of screaming adolescent girls that sold out Gramercy Theatre on Friday, May 11. It would have seemed that Chris was just reading the minds of girls assumingly crying in the front row, equipped with posters and all. At one point during the show a bra was thrown on stage – an act which seemed to bore frontman Drew as he attempted to make a joke that someone threw ear warmers at him.

When first hearing Never Shout Never’s infectious pop-rock tunes, it would come to no surprise that any concert goer of theirs should expect a certain tween demographic. That being said, if there was ever a time for 20-somethings to feel like they need to be auditioning for a Wonder Years reunion, it would have been attending this show.

[VIDEO] Inside the Webby Sessions with Mashable's Pete Cashmore

Pete Cashmore is one of the most interesting and inspiring success stories of the blogosphere. At just 26 years old he has accomplished more than people twice his age, and continues to innovate not only within the tech world but in the media business as a whole. He stands as a figure of originality and what can be accomplished when you strive for your goals. His journey from teenager to media mogul started back in Aberdeen, Scotland when he was just 13 years old and suffered complications after having his appendix removed. His condition left him bedridden and his only escape and connection to the outside world was through the internet. By the time he was nineteen he had launched Mashable.com. His little personal blog (he described as "not very good") went on to become one of the biggest most influential blogs in the world. We were lucky enough to get in on his Webby Session at Internet Week yesterday to hear his story and insights live. (And for those of you wondering, yes, he is just as tall and dreamy in person!)
