NOOK Simple Touch™ with GlowLight™ — Barnes and Noble
Barnes and Noble’s recent announcement promised a sleeker and more innovative eReader and it looks like they’ll deliver. The new Nook will be the second of its kind, quickly catching up to the competition of the Kobo. Both are releasing new eReaders with touch screen capability, which is a feature readers have been waiting for since the dawn of the digital book.
The big deal is user friendliness. Simple is sometimes better. One of the advantages of a bound paperback copy of a book is that it is easily controlled by the hands with simple movement. Buttons and styluses are not a part of the equation. Another challenge on the road to getting an eReader into every home is transitioning users who are far more used to physical copies of books—that is, all users. The simple fact of the matter is that eReaders are still in their toddler years and up until a short while ago everyone read books in the traditional way. Between extreme worry about the death of print and a familiar love of the traditional way of reading books, it is difficult to make the idea of an eReader seem normal to many.
