RALPH LAUREN
Fashion and music are two creative elements we love to enjoy separately, however, when the two join forces, they can make for an interesting concept. From Kanye West’s chic street style, to Lady Gaga’s crazed couture; there is one thing that is certain: when fashion and music combine you can expect some serious buzz. The latest collaboration is an unlikely pairing: Avicii and Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply!
Fashion Week is the week to know what is going to be treading, or should we say trending, our way in the coming seasons. The runway is of course where we all study styles and figure out what trends to prepare for. However "street chic" is just as much a part of the week as the runways. Some of the best styles and inspirations can be found on the streets of New York and fashion week just happens to be the time when all of these trend setters are baited into one single place by their common hunger for fashion. This, my friends, is the perfect opportunity for those who can't get into the shows, to find fashion forward looks!
Ralph Lauren has always been applauded for putting out sophisticated and classic designs, and this collection was no exception. With a mixture of 1920’s flapper, 1950’s Audrey Hepburn, and some fantastic outerwear, he has yet again reminded us why he is at the top of the fashion food chain.
Lauren showed the usual preppy, equestrian character through his daytime styles remaining simple and classic with the cuts, while getting a little wilder with the vibrant colors, miss-matching patterns like plaid and check, and yes, even leopard print. The chang-up created a stronger, riskier look to his signature style.
With NYFW here, we at Glam Damn It are hard at work, gearing up to bring you extensive coverage of all the fashionable festivities taking place throughout the city.
In the meantime, to satisfy all your fashion cravings, we present to you a sneak-peek of eight designs which will debut during the F/W 2012 New York, Milan and Paris shows, courtesy of WWD!
Enjoy!
Boy have we had some tough brutal winter days lately; and it's only the beginning. If you're one of the many who are throwing the towel in to this unbelievable wind chill, please continue reading. Walking to the train from your cozy warm house can leave you with the impact of a person living in Antarctica. Since when has New York weather decided to turn its back on us? It's very clear. Your basic pea coat is simply not going to cut it this winter! So here are few options for when you need that extra warmth!
Happy Holidays, everyone! With Christmas rapidly approaching, what will you be wearing this holiday season? Now that winter has arrived, adding comfy layers of clothing should be on your Christmas list! Here are a few knit pieces we love.
The Roxy Cozy Up scarf is perfect for this cold brisk weather. Forget that thin sleek silk scarf you purchased last month, the double dare provides the comfort and warmth that is much needed when the temperature drops below 40. Not only is the double dare just as cute as the buttons on its sleeves but it is also affordable. Perfect for the shopper on a budget!
There’s nothing like a sexy blazer to complete your fall look. Pair with slacks and you’re ready for the office! Or wear one over your favorite party dress for a stylish (yet cozy) night out on the town. Sometimes splurging on a high-end piece seems well worth the extra bucks (minus the shopper's remorse), so if you love fashion as much as we do (translation: you’re constantly restocking your wardrobe), owning a variety of designer blazers can get a bit pricey. Below, you’ll find five of our favorite designer jackets and next to them their affordable (alternative) siblings.
Okay NYC, it’s the last week of October. That means saying goodbye to our favorite cool days, partying like Marie Antoinette or Cleopatra (or whichever skanky swank costume you chose for H2011), and being able to walk a block without seeing Uggs. We know you’re itching for the weekend- and Halloween galore- to arrive but why not try something extraordinary today? Let’s see what the week has in store:
Monday October 24th
Lincoln Center Presents: A Night with Ralph Lauren Hosted by Oprah Winfrey
Every week we will feature one item that deserves the spotlight.
This week's item is: The Card Holder.
The card holder is a major upgrade from your bulky wallet that's giving you back pains. The card holder will force you to carry things that are pertinent to everyday living, e.g. debit card, metro card, ID. Every company is designing one, so make sure you find one that best suits you.
- Rugby Ralph Lauren at just $35 this card holder keeps the money in your pocket in more ways than one.
- Jack Spade makes an array of fun, funky or classic card holders. Most under $100
- Other brands to look for that have plenty of options are Makr All Goods, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Louis Vuitton.
Stylelist has predicted who may be up to win "Best Dressed" out of all the newly announced Emmy nominees. Some of our favorite stars from this hypothetical list include:
Christina Hendricks- Nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal as "Joan Harris" in the highly acclaimed, and very stylish, TV-series Mad Men, the volumptuous red-head likes to wear form-fitting ensembles such as pencil skirts and low-cut tops to show off her mad curvy figure. Some of her favorite designers include L'Wren Scott and Dolce & Gabanna.
