Style Fashion Week Opening Night

The huge, cathedral like space of the 'Vibiana' in Downtown LA was a spectacular venue for Style Fashion Week's opening night.As we sat outside sipping lychee rose Martini's, whilst listening to the a trio of women singing 40's and 50's balad's, there was a feel of excitement in the air.This was in preparation for the 'Stop Staring' runway show. The brand, which manufactures vintage inspired 40's and 50's clothing has been worn by a whole host of celebrities from Zooey Deschanel through to Kim Kardashian. And with pieces starting from a wallet friendly $150 the brand really are Hollywood's best kept secret. As the tall, willowey models embarked on the runway, we were suprised at how well constructed and cut the clothes were. Particular pieces which caught our eye were a grey marl pant suit. The wide leg pants combined with a cropped jacket, looking very sophisticated in a hommage to 'Coco Chanel' 1940's kind of way. A fur capped shouldered, calf length, fitted column dress, also caught our eye. The fur added a touch of luxe to an otherwise simple piece. As for the negatives? In terms of the styling, we adored the models 50's style red lips, pale cheeks and long lashes. And backcombed side swept curls gave the looks a modern edge. But the additon of leather biker gloves? With a 40's/50's style dress? EEEK!
