THE VIEW
Lou Reed and Metallica have leaked out "The View" today, the first taste of their much-anticipated collaboration. The 5-minute, generation-bending opus is slated to hit iTunes and other digital retailers tomorrow.
Reed carries most of the vocal torch, delivering a monotone, folky speech over the slow-burning heavy metal of Metallica. James Hetfield takes the reigns on the chorus, providing a fiery counterpart to Reed's wise words. The meaty track is complimented by a classic Kirk Hammett solo, giving it all the makings of a great Metallica song, this time with a very special guest appearance.
The hard-rock dream-team will release their full length Lulu on Nov. 1st, but you can hear "The View" over at Spin right now. What do you think?
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walked off their show yesterday after Bill O'Reilly, the conservative political commentator, made a stereotypical comment about Muslims and 9/11.
He said, "Muslims killed us on 9/11," which stirred up the two ladies. Behar and Goldberg only returned once O' Reilly rephrased his statement. His remarks created tension in the room and led to a big argument.
Barbara Walters told the audience that the argument was something that shouldn't happen and that the guests and hosts should be able to have a normal conversation without all the disputing.
Tsk, tsk Billy. Its 2010, please stop stereotyping!

Mark Ronson's status as a solo musician is a topic frequently subjected to scrutiny. After all, he's known as a 'celebrity D.J.' and comes from a famous family (sis Samantha is Lindsay Lohan's infamous lesbian dalliance and other sis Charlotte is a successful fashion designer). Although Ronson relies heavily on the famous talent he showcases, his own musical prowess never wavers.
Like a scientist, extracting the best of each artist he works with, Ronson helped thrust Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen into the international spotlight, producing their debut albums and featuring them prominently on his own breakthrough record: 2007's Version.
Are they running out of topics on The View? It's either that or Whoopi Goldberg has some balls...when the women of the show brought up Mel Gibson and his despicable-ness, Whoopi actually defended him!
Mel was blatantly caught using the n-word on tape...so I'm pretty sure it's safe to say he's got some racism coursing through those veins of his. But Whoopi disagrees.
"I don't like what he did here. But, I know Mel and I know he's not a racist," she said.
"Well, that language certainly sounds racist to me," Joy Behar countered. Uh yeah...I agree.
"I can't sit and say that he's a racist, having spent time with him in my house with my kids," Goldberg replied. "I can't say it."
Is she new?
Although the White House has no comment on Jailhouse Toys’ latest creation, a miniature Mrs. Obama will be joining her husband on store shelves everywhere, in a window-boxed package, later this year. Michelle will be available in three different outfits: the vibrant Maria Pinto purple dress worn the night of the “fist-bump,” the red and black Narciso Rodriguez Election Night dress, and the Donna Ricco floral dress she wore on “The View.”
Not to waste more precious time on Heidi Montag Pratt, but her co-host spot on The View—are you serious?
Heidi will be filling in for Elisabeth Hasselback on October 1st while she is on maternity leave. Come on, now—isn’t this show supposed to be about intelligent, adult topics? I don’t think her nude spread in Playboy would be appropriate for daytime viewers. Nor, do I think they would care. The republican reality star donned herself as the “modern day Mother Theresa” on her View appearance in June. Since then, The Hollywood Gossip reports, Heidi has Twittered about Jesus 9-10 times daily, appeared on NBC’s, “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here”—where husband, Spencer claimed they were too famous for the show; and sang at the Miss Universe pageant—no applause necessary. I don’t know what ABC is thinking, but I’m sure interested to hear what “thought out, intelligent” things she has to say—or lack there of. [The Hollywood Gossip]
The Grateful Dead are legendary for their prolific touring, having played over 2,300 live shows since their formation in the 1960s. Singling out one of these shows as their best would be an almost impossible task. It would seem equally difficult to pinpoint one show as their ‘strangest,’ until now that is…
Today’s installment of the Rolling Stone’s Rock and Roll Daily reports that “Of the thousands of shows the dead have played, their weirdest performance will come Monday, March 30, when the jam legends take the stage for an acoustic performance and sit in with the women of The View…”
