[PICS] Internet Week Kicks Off with a Bang

Internet Week New York kicked off with a bang in SoHo Monday night. After a jam-packed day of exciting discussions including the Webby Sessions featuring Buzzfeed's Jonah Peretti and Jon Steinberg, and The Rise of the Anti-Lady Mag, techies from across the world put away their laptops and came together to celebrate at the headquarters' massive 8,000 square foot space. The opening party featured several open bars, live music, DJ sets, as well as numerous photo booths and free makeovers by Revlon. We'll call this the "tame" portion of the evening. The real wildness went down at a late night rager till 4am (that even we had to throw in the towel early for) at Tribeca Grand Hotel.

Blonde Redhead Headlines Gilt City's Fashion Week Kick-Off at Tribeca Grand Hotel

Just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8 in the black curtained, cobblestone floored basement of the swanky Tribeca Grand Hotel, Kazu Makino, the lead singer of Blonde Redhead, slowly walked onto the stage wearing a frothy white blouse and grey military-style hat, with her long, pale-cinnamon legs tucked into clunky, unzipped black boots. The majority of the crowd had been there for at least an hour, enjoying the electrified comradarie of Gilt City's Fashion Week kick-off accompanied by complementary Brooklyn Brewery beer and Avion tequila. Blonde Redhead headlined the event while premiering their new album Penny Sparkle, which is due on shelves September 14. And as Kazu adjusted the candles on top of her keyboard and cranked the machine to start, the crowd turned away from the bar and inched a little bit closer to the stage.

Ann Yee's Delightful Experiment

Ann Yee invited Joonbug to an amazing lookbook launch at Tribeca Grand Monday night, with amazing mojitos, a live band, and film in tow.

Lookbooks of Ann Yee's Fall 2010 collection were being passed out amongst the divine guests in attendance, complementing the film and suiting the decor.

For Ann's Fall bevy, refreshing color-blocked drapes, back and shoulder-zippered blouses and an abundance of silk and wool filled the pages that created a story for girls who know their fashion and like to experiment with it. Ann herself has already been experimenting with her own style, by way of delicate, minute details that reminded us of an eager design student's outburst of expression.

Indira Cesarine Premieres Kaleidoscopic at the Tribeca Grand Hotel

On September 9th I found out that my short film, KALEIDOSCOPIC, was chosen to be screened at the first NEW YORK FASHION SHORTS film festival event, presented by designer Bruno Grizzo and Curated by artist Kostantinos Menelaou. The screening took place during New York Fashion Week at the Tribeca Grand Hotel on September 11, 2009 to a packed house of film aficionados and fashionistas, followed by a buzzing party with the Misshapes performing. The screening was dedicated to promoting the medium which has become a valuable source of inspiration for the film and fashion industries. New York Fashion Shorts showcased 14 “of the best fashion related short videos and films from across the world”. It was an honour to be one of the selected directors.
